I've done a mod or two
I gave up on washing it for real, it just gets sprayed off and I'll Windex the windows. My Land Cruiser gets trips to the carwash and occasionally I'll take it for a full detail. I hate washing it because it takes a lot of my time that I could be doing something useful and I never do as good of a job as the guys down the street.

Paint needs maintenance just like anything else. I wash it when it needs it, probably once/twice a month or so. Give it a good detail after winter and out another coat of wax on it in the fall before winter. I’ve never understood the “it’s just a truck” mentality. I prefer my stuff to be clean, truck, house, tools, garage. I’d rather work on a clean vehicle then a dirty grungy one.

You can go overboard, though. The more often you touch your paint, though, you just give yourself more oppportunities to screw up your paint.

When I start having trouble seeing out the windshield... even then, I don't wash it, that's what I have sons for.

Oh snap... my youngest is about to graduate high school! Who's going to wash my truck? And mow my lawn???

You would fit right in at the projects. I wash mine once a week and when I pull back in the projects and get out I dry off some water that ran down the side on the way home and I can hear people talking about me. Frick em... just because they don't wash/wax there rent a wreck don't mean I have to be like them. I still have a little pride left. But living in the projects tears at that if you let it.

I thought I was OCD! I wash mine about once a week in the summer (which I thought was a lot), and twice a month in the winter (depending on if we get any warm days). I'm currently over a month with no wash. Inside gets cleaned weekly, though.
