    60k seems excessive
Not sure of the mileage as the truck is new to me

    Such as??

I called Toyota dealer to ask if Iridiums were an OE replacement for the standard plug, answer was yes. I figure on keeping this truck until the wheels fall off and at 70 (me) I would rather not have to replace the plugs again for a couple of years, or ever, depending on if the truck outlasts me, lol.

With the wear I had on my originals at 130-ishK, I figure 60K isn't unreasonable, but they should probably be regapped as mine had enough wear on the center and ground electrodes the gap had opened up a fair amount. No issues with starting or misfires, etc. The iridium plugs should be good for at least 75K I figure, based on the much harder metal of the electrodes.

I believe the folks having issues with the iridium plugs aren’t matching the heat range of the new plugs to the Denso Coppers.

I run a ScanGaugeII and monitor stuff like trans temps, engine coolant and switch around between avg mpg and a couple of other things. I've noticed my average mpg has gone up by about 3 mpg since I put the new plugs in. Doesn't sound like much, but I go between 12 and 15 mpg most of the time, since I tow a lot, and the best I usually get on the highway with no trailer is around 17. I've been doing 16-19 mpg all week, which for me is pretty good for local driving.

2014 Tacoma SR5 4x4 DC SB V6 AT Tow Pkg Entune+ Mostly stock with a few OEM mods.
Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
    2014 SR5 DC 4x4 V6 AT: 10 years @133,000.

Purchased 7/2021 w/104k. No issues thus far. Runs perfectly, no fluid leaks (including the front timing cover and power-steering rack) rattles or rust. Passes annual dealer frame inspections since I bought it and declared good. 4x4 works great. A few creaks from the plastics in/along the center console now and then, but the interior is otherwise excellent and all of the stuff works fine. Maintenance since I purchased it: coolant, diffs and transfer case fluids, transmission fluid, spark plugs.

The transmission gives smooth shifts normally. If I had one minor complaint, it would be the steering wanders a little and needs fiddling at certain highway speeds. Alignment is good. I have been blaming the old-school front drive train or maybe the tires. The issue goes away around 75 mph, but then again so does the gas mileage. It doesn't look dated or feel like a ten year old truck. Toyota really did a good job (IMO) on this generation of the Tacoma.

I don't think any 2nd Gen is "too old" at this point in time. As Indiana Jones once said:

"It's not the age, it's the mileage." (I would add: "with the exception of a 2nd-Gen Tacoma" (and the 1st-Gen as well.) :proposetoast:

I guess I can add to the "Old" list.

    My truck is a 2007. 4.0 w/170k miles
    I've changed the following.

    2x spark plugs
    2x Coolant (radiator only)
    1x Serpentine Belt
    3x Differential fluids
    1x Transfer case fluid
    2x Transmission fluid. (Pan only)
    1x Front brakes
    1x rear brakes
    2x Front Wheel bearings
    1x ECGS Bushing (Needle Bearing)

Plus many air filters and Cabin Filter (no idea how many times)

Other than that, it's all original.

I'm 50 yrs old and I still work mostly well.

My truck is almost 15 and other than the frame replacement I haven't had too much "it's old" stuff that I don't reasonably expect to have happen, though.

I changed my plugs around 200k when they were worn out making a misfire and MPG went below 420 miles a tank.

just re gap every 50k and save some money

I did the plugs at 110K. Was still running fine but winter was coming up and I figured easier to just do it now versus wait.

I purchased my 2014 brand new and have done the maintenance by the book. I'm now at 243k and have changed the plugs 8 times. These are the plugs I just pulled at 240k.20240519_113420.jpgThey look good to me. 30k is probably a bit excessive but I like to know what is going on in the motor and I feel this allows me to see if there are any issues developing.

I've outgrown the urge to own new vehicles. My '06 w/ 150K has paint is starting to go away but mechanically it's been great, a dry SW truck. It's only needed routine maint the last 17 years aside from a recent water pump. I've updated the interior with the things that matter to me comfort wise, electronics etc. a few mild suspension updates that fit my needs so it's basically dialed in for me. I don't rack up a lot of miles so it's not getting run into the ground ether. New vehicles are nicer in many ways but then you have to start over with most of the things you want to do to a new one. Mine looks better every time I glance at the prices of the new tacomas, plus I haven't had a car payment in quite a few years which has been great. It all adds up.

    FWIW I’d choose a T100 over a 2nd gen if I could find a good one.
