I'm the middle of 3. Left for the AF at 18 and will never look back. I miss the Northwest, but I am happy to be away from family that want to barge in at any point. My brother and sister still live either at my parents house or close to my parents house.

Day after my 18th birthday -- joined the Army -- had to be 18 to be an MP. Never went back - never looked back.

Agreed but. I would love to move back up that way, but don't want to be that close again.

Left when I was 15, by then I had a reasonable paying job, enough to pay my own bills. Bought my first house shortly after turning 18.
