I’m not sure I “wheel,” but I need to get through dirt and rock and sand and mud to access obscure trailheads and drainages and campsites. For me, the truck isn’t the thing, it’s the thing that get you to the thing.

I was into 80's Mustangs and drag racing. Decided to buy a 1991 Explorer. On my very first outing the truck got stuck in a lake when I found out the stupid auto hubs didn't work. The bug hit, soon I had a custom 5 ½ lift, Super Swampers and a 5.0L with a custom wide ratio AOD in it. That was 15 years ago now. Truck got stolen and stripped. Now time to start again with my Tacoma, I miss the trails.

Good ol’ IG haha. Kinda actually.

In all seriousness, I love road-trips, I’ve been on countless trips and we try to at least do 1 long trip a year. There’s just something about it that you can’t get from flying, and I guess it’s because the road is the destination. Anyways, yes, I’m a millennial. So every time I would plan a road-trip I’d see a cool overlanding post on IG, or YouTube, and whenever we would do multi state trips I always wanted to do and see more. I’m not gonna lie, I was very inspired by these people’s beautiful pictures in locations that weren’t swarmed with tourists. There’s so many beautiful roads, sometimes I knew of them and other times we would come across locations where I didn’t feel ok driving in a corolla. I just wanted more. So it seemed fitting to buy a truck, be able to load our gear and explore states by visiting more than just the average tourist spots.

So The idea was to buy a Tacoma, it’s a good truck, good mpg, I was to keep it stock and stick to little fire roads that we can camp and explore.

A few months After purchasing it, it’s no longer stock, 16mpg. And I’m doing this shit with Jeep people and I love it! The wife however, well she wants the non money pit corola back. Haha.

Got interested in off roading back 1985 after a friend invited me to ride with him in his Jeep on the Famous Rubicon trail

Ski bum girlfriend back in '90s had an '83 Hilux 4x4 longbed with a camper shell. We took that bad boy up Usal road to Shelter Cove for some weekend camping along the way. We hit all the micro breweries on the way back. It was a hoot. ...I realize Usal's not the burliest of trails by any stretch.
