Before finding out about them here and doing a little more reading to it, I don't think I've ever seen one in person. Suddenly, i'm noticing them here and there hiding in plain sight. Though I might see two in a day and none for three months...

In So Cal, there are a few lurking around here and there. I tend to see red and black ones around and not so much the Speedway Blue ones.

I've never seen one in the wild. Always thought they were pretty cool though not real practical around here.

I bought a red 2007 from a coworker last year, it only had 89k miles on it. I've always wanted one so when he told me I could buy it I jumped on it, paid $9500. It's my daily driver so the miles are piling up. I've only seen two others in my area. The only thing I don't like about the truck is the Toyota clear coat cancer. It is flaking off of all the painted plastic. My truck originated in Hawaii (I'm in Georgia), all of the dealer info is still with the owners manual. It still had the Hawaii inspection sticker on the rear bumper, until I was rear ended last year. I got a quote from the body shop to have it properly repainted and I think they gave me the "We don't want to do it price" of $7000. So I've been thinking about getting it wrapped.

I saw one with a refreshed front end the other day. Putting it on the fantasy list.

I would imagine the S Runner is much more rarer and now more desired.

They were limited to a production run of only 1500 I believe... truly a rare find. The only other 1st gen I know of with equivalent exclusivity is the reg cab 3.4 V6. True unicorns

    Rarer, yep.

More desired? Nope. I wouldn't trade my X for a S-Runner, even if you sweetened the deal with $10K. Now I wouldn't mind adding a S-Runner to my "stable," but I definitely do not prefer it over a X-Runner.

The X-Runner was designed for one purpose, to pull more Gs than the Nissan 350Z right off the showroom floor. It was designed to handle...basically be a sports car that you can throw your camping supplies or bicycle in the back on weekends.

Not sure what enhancements S-Runners had from the factory, other than cosmetic. Was it lowered over the standard Tacoma like the X-Runner? Did it have extra bracing to make the frame stiffer like the X-Runner? Did it come from the factory on low profile "high performance summer tires" like the X-runner? Did it pull over .9 Gs on the skidpad like the X-Runner?
