How Rare are Xrunners really?

Well I just bought my Speedway blue 07 X Runner on March 1st from a Toyota Dealership, from the second I saw it listed on Carfax, I absolutly had to have it, I needed no persuasion,
BUT,
The salesmen said "You better act fast, the X Runner is extremely rare" I thought, yeah whatever, typical sales pitch.
BUT,
before that day, I had never heard of or taken notice of an X Runner, I then searched online for other X Runners, & I live in South Carolina & the nearest X Runner for sale was in Pennsylvania. So for once a used car salesmen was being honest.

Furthermore, I am a Driver for DoorDash, so I am always going through neighborhoods. I have only seen one, and that happened only 5 days ago. To give more perspective, I have put 10,000 DoorDash mile on my 04 Ford Taurus, since I started working for DoorDash. That is an incredible amount of miles to only come across a X Runner once.

My city has a population of 400,000
So a Toyota Tacoma X Runner very well may be as rare as a Unicorn. But that is great, it makes our trucks unique, people, children & adults alike, are always saying how much they like my truck.

I’ve only seen two in my fairly large city and I happened to snag a pic of one last week. They are both the same color. Sorry it’s not a better photo.

 

That was my first tacoma,,,, loved it. more of a sports car with a bed.

Been reading alot on these lately. Heres my story

I love owning automotive unicorns. I had just sold my VW TDI, 6 speed manual JettaSportWagen. Great car but good ol Ca. and diesel....

Was just discussing what to replace it with, with my Toyota loving son (has an 08 4x4/6m Tacoma). I'd just paid a $2700 timing belt job on the VW... NO more timing belts. Whats oout there W/O a timing belt???

1st search came up with an embarrassingly cheap 08 XRunner. Took the 1.5 hour drive, verified numbers, rest drive, bought it. 145k, great. Turn key, tight, west coast, rust free driver.

ONE big issue is the trucks body kit was put on another (non XRunnerr). It was sitting right next to the 08 I purchased.

Working out any small issues . Now I need to locate a body kit.
Anyone?

 

I say go work a deal for the body kit that was on the truck originally if its still there..

 

Unfortunately the parts were put on another non XRunner. Makes no sense to me. Ill take my time and preferably find a wrecking yard parting out a blue one. It does happen . It will be a back up vehicle that has good towing capability.

 

Best of luck on your search, the body kit and the wheels are the "rare" parts of the XRunner.. kind of like the unicorn without its horn!!

Oh yeah, hope you still have the X-bracing and sway bar in the rear end of the frame still too?!

VIS sells this aftermarket kit that looks close..



Seeing as how you were excited about the price tag being low, you may not be ready to throw another close to $3 grand into the the body kit (add paint and installation to the cost)..

 

I've got the rims, rear sway bar. I haven't looked for the x brace yet, probably self explanatory but hey I'm open to any discrimination.

I'll buck up $ for the right set up. I see it as an investment.

 

Yep, got the xbar. Had to manipulate it a little to save it as it interfered a tad bit with the receiver hitch install.

 

Still looking for the body kit. Anyone?

 

I think it still looks good without, Can you share you wheel setup?

The XRunner 18" set went back on. Mostly for originality sake
