Fortunately Toyota can take the Tesla approach of "we'll fix it in software later" when it comes to a lot of these pieces of tech. Just go in every time you get a service and state that it will randomly scream at you. They'll update it to current version under warranty.

That said, I've noticed my collision detection turning off a lot when dirty and/or raining heavily. We just got hammered in DC yesterday and the system shut off several times in the 90 minutes it took me to get home.

Toyota has a pretty great track record of having reliable electronics. i wouldn't be concerned. on the other hand, in 25 years they will be borderline classic trucks, i dont think anyone will be upset when their crawl control isn't activating properly

I know for a fact that mechanics are fixing 25 year old trucks today. So I know with reasonable certainty that mechanics will be fixing 25-year old trucks in 25 years. And I'm pretty sure someone will still be making the parts for a Toyota.

Things will break, for sure. I'm not too worried about the computerized/electronic features. When they fail, they fail big and obviously, and are easier to diagnose than complex mechanical issues... Of course, I work in tech so maybe I'm biased...

In Washington state there needs to be two occasions for a major safety system to declare lemon law. Toyota had my truck for almost a month to try and figure out why it was doing that and they could not figure it out. They took out the black box and viewed the incidents and there was no reason for the system to engage.

The state attorney general started the arbitration process and sent a subpoena for all records as well, so it is actually. That system should not be engaging itself, it was very dangerous and luckily there was no one behind me when it happened.

Yeah, me too. I love my truck and all I want is a replacement. Only time will tell!
