I used it going up to my family's camp during the winter on a regular basis. Coupled up with Duratracs we didn't have any problems even with a foot or two of snow on the ground and irregular lumpy discontinued logging roads underneath. You could hear it working, though, since it's ABS-controlled. That took a little getting used to, but the system seemed pretty effective. We only had to shift to 4x4 for the hills, typically.
Not exactly 'hardcore offroad use' I suppose, but the system definitely got a workout doing it. :notsure:

Well if you have the off road you have both.
Lsd is nice for just driving along on dirt etc. But if you get stuck locker will be best.

Lsd is actually great for snow.

The lsd is a brake simulated one though so it might put a lot of strain on the braking system.

As a guy with a 2WD who frequently uses forest service roads (washboardy, often uneven bu not too insane) will LSD do much for me?

Maybe at low speeds up a steep hill. It doesn't really react fast enough to make a difference when you're bombing down a washboard-y road. That's more a VSC function.

I believe Auto LSD is still engaged in 4HI, but is disabled in 4LO.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
If you are challenging a trail or trying to test the limits of your or the truck's ability, then an LSD (auto or mechanical) will help, but is not preferred. If you are trying not to get stuck (travel from A to B) and drive smart, then any LSD is sufficient.

If you are unsure of getting stuck then you are fine with the LSD. If you are crawling or hitting trails intentionally to off-road then you may want to consider a locker.
