I was driving home from school today when I was near my house the car began acting funny.

    Symtoms:
    -Shaky at idle
    -No power
    -Won't stay running at idle
    -Stalls often

After I got home, I popped the hood.
    -Coolant smell
-Saw coolant dripping off skid plate
-Coolant is all over the driver side of the engine compartment

    NO SMOKE FROM EXHAUST!

Did I blow my headgasket again? I blew one 15,000 miles ago.

Did you get the head machined? Or at least checked for any warpage?

I just did an oil change on Friday. Checked it before it went to my mechanic and it looked clear and clean. It was pouring smoke out my exhaust though.

It's at my mechanics now, I'm just waiting for a call on what's wrong and what it'll cost me.

more like what it'll cost him when the same side is blown again because he didn't do it right.

    did he warranty the work?

if not, unfortunately he more than likely will not cover the costs.

So both heads are warped. Passenger is warped beyond repair. Driver can be resurfaced. So I went out and bought a rebuilt passenger head.

    Boom.

Nice. Way too many people just chuck a vehicle and get a new one instead on investing a few measly hundred bucks and keepin on truckin for another 50 to 100k miles.

With all the work I've got in my Taco, I don't think I can ever give it up now. Frame patches, crate motors, tranny rebuilds...the next 40 years will be interesting...

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
Better luck this time! It's been my experience that once you overheat an engine it doesn't matter how well the head/block is resurfaced, they always seem to blow out again.

Waiting for someone to correct me now...

Put $2500 into it and I've been daily driving it since then.

    Drives great!

I think the head gasket blew at 150k.

This one warped both heads at 164.5k

The money was an absolute shit ton, I agree. I highly encourage you to read my build thread (Link in sig) to hear the story behind my 4Runner. Then you will understand.
