Was the battery disconnected. If not you most likely blew a fuse the key doesn't have to be on for a wire to be hot. How do you think the radio keeps your presets and time

Ok op. I just went and pulled my radio out of my truck...... You owe me a beer now.

That od green is your constant power without that your radio ain't going to do jack shit. So you need to check your fuses. Now for the red wire. I have no f'n clue what that black box so I have no idea why that wire was attached to it.

So you need to start checking fuses. Get your owners manual out and look for the radio fuses check them all. If none of them are blown start from top left of each fuse panel and go to bottom right of each fuse panel. Check EVERY FUSE until you find the blown one. Then keep checking to make sure you didn't blow anything else.

I'm gonna resume in the morning haha thanks I greatly appreciate it. I'll start with fuses and go from there. I don't know what the red is still but am glad I was on the right track with the power green wire. Is every tacomas radio fuse input in the same area

Do you not have your owners manual? If not I can only suggest to look up a wiring diagram. I can't help you on that one.
