That looks pretty nice already! I'd totally live there.

The central A/C; Gwyn bought the house in 2003 and had the A/C put in sometime in 2005...

I’m amazed that this rather low-end unit has lasted over 15 years! Only $5,500 to put in central air, including the ductwork!

Lighten up the walls. We always painted the inside of houses main areas when we flipped houses fresh linen white in egg shell. Looks great. And makes the space look more open

Eggshell is always the way to go, so much easier for home diy projects. Gloss is so hard to make look good unless you want to waste the rest of your life sanding.

Should she go with the cooktop/wall oven, or stick with the range?

Space is limited. I would use a range

The wall mount oven is pretty dated now and takes up valuable cabinet space. I would stick with a nice range.

It’s dated? My house was built in 2016 and has one...

This is the kitchen in my parents’ house...

I believe the cooktop/wall oven layout looks more elegant in large kitchens, but in smaller and/or older kitchens I see what you mean...

My best friend’s parents have a house that was built in 1961, and the kitchen was original when they redid it in 2006; The house had one of those tiny 24-inch wall ovens that wasn’t self-cleaning and could barely accommodate a turkey. I do not like those; They now have a standard gas range. My other friend’s house has the original wall oven from the 1950s and it works great, but she plans on going with a range when she redoes the kitchen.

My other friend’s house was built in 1957 and has the original kitchen (these pictures are all from May 2020); With the exception of the countertops, it is believed that the kitchen is original!

The original GE appliances all function perfectly, and I have convinced my friend that she needs to salvage them and sell them to someone who’s doing a retro-styled mid-century modern house...

She and her husband plan on totally redoing the kitchen, and they really want a gas stove; The house used to have oil hot water baseboard heat, but they converted to public natural gas not long after buying the house. They ran a gas line for the stove so they can do that at a later date...

My friend is annoyed that this old beast isn’t self-cleaning, but says it can cook a mean turkey!

Another thing that annoys my friend is the lack of a dishwasher, which they obviously plan on installing when they redo the kitchen; The house isn’t totally stuck in in 1950s, however...

Central A/C was installed in the late 1990s!

Looks great! Definitely right about it's place in a large kitchen. That does look very modern also.
