    Hello,

I'm about to start my own install, with the help of this forum and excellent pics from everyone, I'm confident I'll be able to make this happen.

I have a Kenwood 5120 and the wiring harness from Crutchfield, looks pretty simple as I'll only have to splice 5 wires (power, ground, amp lead, dimmer and parking brake safety wire) Any tips on where I should splice the parking brake safety wire to? I'd like to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Just ground the wire? I thought it needed a lead or positive signal (they show it connected to the parking brake wire)

    Thanks!

I spliced the parking brake wire directly into the ground on the harness for my 5120, works flawlessly

Thanks for the info, good to have found another 5120 user. So I double splice the ground wire and safety wire from the 5120 to the Toyota single ground wire on the harness? Just want to make extra sure before I solder (sp?) the wires. Also, any other tips for installing this unit? I have the Metra install kit and XM adapter and iPod cable...

yes i twisted together the kenwood ground and the parking brake safty wires and connected them to the ground on the crutchfield harness that attaches to the factory wiring. I used the schoche kit so i'm unfamiliar with the metra. I also have a stand alone xm so I wired that differently then you would, but the ipod cable you can run that down to the glove box easily, thats where mine sits

Fantastic! This is why I feel confident to install this myself, so much support! I can't wait to get this all installed, this will be in segments as I'm waiting for my sub and enclosure from Mr. Marv, best damn boxes available!
