I bought my Tacoma the last week of February from the closest dealer which is 30 miles one way. They called me and said my truck was ready to be picked up, and they wanted me there by the end of the month. I picked it up on the 28th of February, when I got there they told me I needed to come back because the remote starter I ordered hadn't been installed. I was excited because of the new truck and didn't say anything. A couple days later I emailed the salesman saying I was mad because now I have to come back and that I wasn't in a hurry to get my truck and I would have waited. He said he could send someone to my house to get my truck and return it after the starter was installed. I told him I didn't want some stranger driving my truck. I told him to give me an extra year on the extended warranty and I'd be happy. He said no. I told him he better hope I don't get a survey. I still don't have the starter. My wife has offered to drop the truck off on her way to work and get a ride from somone.
    What say you?

Let your wife help. You'll get the starter put in, your wife will enjoy the flowers you get her for helping, and in a few weeks this will all be a distant memory.

Amen!! Its kind of tough sometimes to get dealers to 'deal' with the customer properly.

I got REALLY lucky with my dealership, they always did whatever they could to 'make things right'

I would say and year warranty extension is a little much to ask for IMO.

I hope they get you taken care of!

You demanded an extra year of warranty coverage for not having the starter put in? Sounds a little overkill on your part and since you probably pissed off the salesman, now he's making you wait (which isn't making the situation any better). Talk to the GM and see what the delay is and find a common solution.

They wanted the truck gone by the end of February so they had me pick it up before they had the starter installed. That's on them, not me. I told them I was in no hurry. They didn't tell me about the starter until I got there.

    Just get over it.

Call, make an appointment for the installation, get it done, live your life.

For the love of God don't have your wife take the truck in. You'll never hear the end of that one. 26 years from now leave your underpants on the bathroom floor and see if she doesn't bring it up.

If the dealer said pick it up by the end of the month, it SHOULD have been ready to make delivery. If it was not, you should NOT have driven away. You're both wrong.

What should you do? YOU take it back to the dealer and very cordially say "I would like what I was promised" and then don't leave until you are satisfied, OR get used to starting the truck the old fashioned way.

Some of us have more gracious partners and don't have to deal with nonsense like this. My sympathies to you!

God bless her then. Really though it needs to be you that does it.

Ever notice when two guys have a disagreement they can stand toe-to-toe, and then shake hands with a newfound mutual respect?

Not going happen if you don't do it yourself.

Seems like just an inconvenience issue here. Drop truck off, get a loaner, pick it up when it is done.

I purchased a vehicle before that dealer listed as having windows tint. Windows weren't tinted. Setup a time convenient for me and used dealer loaner.

Dealership did give me the tint "free".

But who says you need to pick it up by the end of the month?
