When I was in the business, there were times we sent the flatbed out to a customer as a gesture of customer service. Then "no one's driving it". Maybe ask for a nice new hat or a keychain or floor mats as a part of the deal as you were inconvenienced in order for the dealer or salesperson to hit their numbers. I've done things like that for my customers as a salesperson. But over-reacting and freaking out and asking for a $1500 warranty when they are willing to come get your truck and make this an easy fix is a bit much. And as for the survey- you're going to pork some guy that you probably beat up for the sale who is willing to come get your car and install the free starter you negotiated into the deal- which probably cut into his commission in the first place??? You should've just said "NO" to picking it up incomplete.

People like that are the reason I wouldn't do either the service or sales portion of that industry ever again. And I did both for quite some time.

Just let them make it right, get a freebie of some sort to soothe your bruises and let it roll off your back. You still ended up with a nice truck and if this is the closest dealer, this should be an amicable start for both sides- they'll want your business and you don't want them to remember you as "that guy" when you go in for some mundane issue that you think is a big deal- you will both want each other's services when the time comes.

I'd better go tell my buddy that his newly diagnosed cancer is really nothing compared to this...

Write a yelp review and call them a bunch of dickless commies. That'll get their attention.

Don't get so wrapped up about someone driving your Tacoma 60 miles. Chances are it's going to be some semi-retired guy working as as a driver for the dealership and making $10 an hour vs sitting at home watching The Price is Right. It will be fine. It's not going to be the Tech in greasy paints that earns the dealership $130/hour. And plus, it's a Tacoma; they drive these boring, slow trucks every day. It's not like you're setting some kid free in you Corvette Z06.

Hope they're able to treat it effectively. Things are way better than they were even a few years ago.

Still, nothing like a reminder of our mortality to set shit in perspective.

Guy I've known for twenty years popped up with stage IV lung cancer. Never smoked. Has been a health and exercise nut for several years prior to his diagnosis. Go figure.

I bought the 7 year extend warranty, I just asked them to add a year to it, I doubt that costs that much. You know it's the Art of the Deal, right?

Worth a thought. It's not like it's difficult to put in your own or anything... (look at my signature)

Around here a lot of the dealerships use a truck and trailer anyway. I think in the long term it saves them money, only one guy to pay, and they can put two vehicles on the trailer. So it may not be driven that whole way, it could be towed on a trailer.
But I do agree it should have been taken care of before delivery.

    Good grief.

Just drive in drop the truck off and get a ride home with your wife. When the truck is done do the same thing in reverse.

You helped create the situation by taking delivery when the truck wasn't ready.

My wife works first shift and I work second shift. I'll either cancel it or have them come get it.

Perfect; set up a day when you can get to work a little late or she can leave a little early, drive to dealer and drop off truck, she picks you up and you two drive home where you drop her off go to your work.

Interesting, shows how much I looked into it, my salesman was actually the one who told me that, said it was FL law, I bet that was a sales tactic, make you more comfortable signing that contract. I wasn't planning on returning it anyway.

Make a phone call, set up a day when your wife takes the truck to work and they either give her the loaner or they pick up your truck from her work.
