How Should I Lift My Truck

    I need help deciding how I'm going to lift my truck. I have an Access Cab TRD Sport with no TSB and 245/70/17 BFG AT's. I don't want to have to buy UCA's or any diff drop kits either. My options include:

    - 5100's all around with the front set at 1.75"
    - 5100's in the front set at 1.75", nothing in the back
    - 5100's in the front set at 1.75" with 2" AAL in the rear

    Any suggestions? I want to raise it up so it doesn't sit like a car, but dont want the tires to look too small either.

    I pick number three, but I have a 265/75/16 tire. check out my pics, I have 5100's at 1.75 with an aal in the rear, works for me. :)

    maybe a little, but I don't think it's that much, I guess I never paid it a whole lot of mind. :notsure: I'm not planning on lifting it anymore, so there she sits you hoser. :D

    Option 2. The only reason to ever lift the rear is if you're going long travel, or you're gonna run like 37" tires.


    ...And AALs suck.

    How do AAL suck? They help with extra load, help level out a truck or get it back to stock rake.
    They are certainly better than blocks.
    I think either an AAL or a whole new leaf pack is the best rear lift.

    Depends on what look and vehicle ride attitude you are going for. A 2" AAL is a LOT if you are just lifting the front 1.75". Usually folks lift more in front than they do in rear, not the other way around.

    FWIW, I'm putting my front 5100's at 2.5" and I'm thinking that the 2" AAL's I bought for the back will be too much, and am considering exchanging for 1.5" AAL's.

    I personally am not a fan of totally level ride attitude -- I like a little more lift in back than in front -- but I definitely wouldn't want the back of the truck way jacked up with a super nose low ride attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if that kind of attitude caused significant handling/safety problems. Not to mention, the more you lift the back the greater the chance for driveshaft vibration problems, from what I understand.

    So to answer youe Q, I'd say choice 1 or 2, or maybe get a 1" AAL for the back.

    They certainly are better than blocks. But I still wouldn't give anybody any money for some, nor install them on my nice truck. Full new leaf packs are the only way to go if you just have to lift the rear. Deaver/Alcan/Allpro/etc.

    Just set the bilsteins all the way up, go to the dealer and get the TSB leaf packs, put some 285s on it, and call it good, and perfectly level...

    That's what I did so it must be perfect. :)

    I live in Canada and bought the truck used in Mississauga, even though it is an American truck. Would I be able to get the rear TSB done?
