Nice. Is that a custom job? I keep thinking I'd like a small gear trailer. The Taxa Wolly Bear is kind of along the lines of what I'm imaging, but it's pricey for what it is.

Before I bought a trailer I camped like that for a solid 20 years. Had tent, chairs, and kitchen all stored in contico boxes in the garage. When the urge strikes it took all of 5 minutes to load and go.

It is all relative, I camp off the bike too…no way you’re going to fit a Tacoma the places where you can take a bike.

Which ever way you go, and you can always do both right ..? Small teardrop for some occasions toss a tent on other occasions - but whatever
you do here are some words of wisdom: Less is More.... you want to enjoy the environment and not be tied to set-up and take-down and worrying
if you forgot this or didn't bring that.

    Nothing worthy

You mentioned you have a military trailer, so I thought I’d chime in. Our setup is based completely around having

a 100lb dog that sleeps with us, so a RTT doesn't make sense, also, you have to dismantle your tent and bedding if

you want to leave in a hurry. We are building an overland trailer from a 1981 M101 Canadian military trailer to haul our goods

plus a large cargo box on the roof. We have 4” thick high density memory foam cut to fit our 6’ bed and the bed is

always made and ready, on road trips we can literally pull over and go to bed, NO SETUP!. Soft topper over the bed

with a tent extension off the end.

This summer I will have full setup pics as we are still in the final stages of building the trailer in preparation for a 3week honeymoon trip down the west coast from Alberta Canada to LA Cali and back.

No I built it myself. I started with an M100 Jeep trailer and went from there. Compact Camping concepts is an awesome place for the small trailers.

I was looking at their stuff before. I need to spend more time seeing what I can come up with.

What would you ballpark the cost of something like this?

The military trailers are kinda hard to find but if you're patient you'll find one. I bought mine for 1500 and restored it myself. Bought the brackets, Roofnest and welded up some crossbars. Roofnest was about 3500 and the brackets were like make 120 bucks. So all in all I probably have five or six grand in it? That includes the hitch system as well. Lock and Roll.

Although you are correct I have to add a small twist.

Taking less gear isn't always the case.
I am a tinkerer by nature and find relaxation being away from home in a remote area with plenty of tools and random camping gear to keep me entertained for days. I get to fix or tune up old gear, try out new gear, modify anything all while drinking coffee and beer as needed.

The silver lining here is that I have the unobstructed free time to fiddle with stuff without the daily grind getting in the way.

It's certainly different for everyone.

Back in the beginning I built the trailer to be able to haul my kayaks behind my glamping rig.

Things morphed over time and added the RTT and redid the sides adding the diamond plate and side doors.

I entertain any and all offers if so interested. I like the building engineering as much as the trips.

Soon? You retired a month ago in your mind, right? These final days are just going through the motions.

I have a cap on the back of my truck with an 12" high enclosed sleeping platform that I made, kind of like a trunk where I store all of my gear inside of that has a 3" memory foam mattress on it. I then attach a 10' x 10' Napier Backroadz SUV tent to the back of the truck/cap, which takes a bout 10-12 min. to set up and teardown. At that point I have a bedroom, living room and kitchen all in one.

I can take my truck wherever I want and camp comfortably without hauling a rooftop tent or tow a trailer. If I want to leave for the day and keep my base camp, I can simply just detach the tent rainfly that comes on the tent from the truck (takes less that a minute) and drive off, as it becomes a stand alone tent, or If Want to teardown camp and move, I just breakdown the tent.
