The service guy at the dealership I bought my '10 DC TRD sport from said I should do 3 oil changes with conventional, then on the 4th I can use synthetic. Am I crazy for thinking he's crazy?

I'm not running synthetic in the Taco, but I switched to Mobil1 on my first oil change when I had my 07 Impala SS. No reason you should have to wait.

Mostly stock for now, I have added a cb radio, various cheap mods and I plan on adding aftermarket wheels and other items in the future.
I think the truck comes with a semi-synthetic oil from the factory. Mobil clean I believe.
So yes he is crazy to a certain extent ...... lol

There is so much voodoo superstition around synthetic oil it should be classified as a religion.

your supposed to put 3000 on the first oil change because you need to set the seals in right if ou switched to synthetic right now you could actual leak oil since your truck is new wait till you HAVE to do the oil change (just recommendations)

Tell that to manufacturers that deliver their cars with Sythetic oil. :)

    None yet! It's new!
No problem switching whenever you want. I asked the engineer at Red Line that question a couple of years ago and he said, "Some people like to wait a couple of thousand miles, but you don't really need to." When I asked what he would do, he said he'd probably run dino for the first couple of thousand and then put in synthetic.

    It really doesn't matter.

I wish I would have read this earlier. I just put Mobil 1 in mine at 2,300 miles because I'm about to go on a 2,000 mile road trip and figured it would be a good idea to get that initial oil out before I drive that far. Oh well I guess.
