I’m still not really understanding what your question is, but if you’re looking for people who have put some miles on a truck with a tune, I’ve done about 38K trouble free miles with my tune. My only regret is not having it done sooner. It hasn’t caused me any issues and has only made the truck more driveable. Especially in mountainous places like Montana and New Hampshire.

So are you theorizing that a tune's effect on an engine is dependent on the engines's mileage or are you theorizing that a tune's effect on an owner is dependent on mileage?

I'd still wait a bit to get to know the engine.
    - despite how many tacos I'd had previously...

I'd simply want a benchmark to have a relative sense of the changes to my vehicle...

It is unlikely, but to illustrate the point: what if the tune was detrimental to your taco in this latest case... you'd think you were getting the best out of your engine because it is tuned, and tunes have always had a positive impact in the past...

But if this was not the case in this particular engine, you'd never know that you actually ruined your taco...

What is the rush to post that your taco is tuned??? Surely you can drive a few miles...

(You do realize that no one will know you have not tuned your taco, before you actually do...)

I'm pretty happy with my stock 2021.
I think I need to find a 2021 SR5 Access Cab V6 4WD with a tune and drive it... see what the fuss is all about.

I say leave it stock and just use your ect button . My brand new sr5 runs fine with the factory tune. I had a 2020 Trd sport and got the kdmaxx tune and completely regretted it after a month it made the transmission feel like it was slipping and some other strange shifts happened . The new 3rd gens shift fine on factory tuning in my opinion

Then you should have the tune done on the drive home from the dealer's lot, just like you should have floorliners and wheel/tires lined up before taking delivery. Why waste time with the starter's pack aka stock truck?

As a former tuner I will say that I've had a couple of people come to me for a tune within their first week of ownership. There is, however, something to be said for waiting a bit to see how the truck drives. These trucks seem to be very individual for some reason. Some trucks are complete dogs on the stock tune, others are not so bad. It really depends on your tolerance level and expectations. That said, you've owned multiple 3rd gens so it won't take you long to decide how it drives. Once you know, do it.

I can tell you from personal experience with my truck, it took 1200-1500 miles before it was like a switch, how well the transmission, and engine began to perform as one. Before that the truck left me wondering what I just bought. Right now I couldn't be happier. There is no need for any tune. It's all about you being patient, and just using the D mode in your transmission if an auto just like the dealers service manager instructed me to do.

My Sport has 50,000 miles with no tune and runs great. It is not really a necessity unless you want to be like the Jones. just saying

So true, I’ve had several 3rd gens and each have their own personality in many different categories. They all “feel” different .

I’ll add that I would be very concerned about voiding your warranty if you tune the truck.

Having multiple tunes on diesel trucks I thought the Tacoma tune isn’t worth the money for what you actually get. Way more benefit from a regear and no tune. Even with stock tires.

I tuned mine at 35k miles. I had the tune updated at 50k.

I was happy with it stock after the trans values kicked in at 1200 miles. Happier now.

Find a tuner to go to Mexico and try to tune it at the factory before they start it up the first time.

    - Why risk it running on the stock tune... It may get some bad habits.

I’m literally just asking for other people’s input on when they got their truck tuned lol

Find a Mexican fabricator to cut the truck in half and turn it into a regular cab and drop a super charged 5.7 in it before the truck leaves Mexico.
