Just got my SR5 DcSb and I have the "basic" audio system with the touch screen. Was told to download scout GPS link app and I have it all complete....

Does this thing only show turns (like a live MapQuest Esq thing?) Or can it be live 3D map ?

Idk if I described that well or not haha

    Happy turkey day!

What does scout offer that the standard factory GPS doesn't? My factory GPS works just fine. What's the advantage of scout GPS over factory?

Don't think there is in my few days of testing...think it's a rip off nav system....pretty low tech imo unless I'm missing something

I've seen other mentioned the scout app like it was the Hammer of Thor. But I've never had any issues with the factory one. Maybe it's something we're all missing. Not bashing it, since I have no real world experience with it.

I played with it today. About half an hour of installing and restarting several times i gave up because it would not connect, despite being fully connected via Bluetooth and with usb.

IMO I think it is really only good for those that dont have nav. I dont have it in my 16 because I didnt really care about it enough to pay the extra but I saw it on here and it works fine. Like I said I dont have nav and just always used my phone for that.

I spent some time yesterday looking at Scout as it was the first I had heard of it. Based on what I read, it's for those vehicles that don't have factory navigation . I may be wrong but didn't see anything it offers that the factory navigation won't already do.

While it will work on vehicles with NAV, it was designed for those without.
It's a very basic "navigation" app. It will say and display show the road names, turns and distance to next turn information on the radio display, which on occasion could be helpful. Beats looking at the phone if it's down in the small pocket in front of the shifter.

In general, the app is slow and crappy. But it does the basics. If you get a phone cradle, google maps/Waze/whatever you prefer works much better and easily visible.

    And before you ask,
there are no other entune apps to download.

I have found that it doesn't like USB and Bluetooth at the same time, crashes and disconnects constantly, works ok if you leave your phone unplugged or use a charger not connected to the head unit. I didn't care for it much and have now replaced the head unit, not just because of scout though.
