Damn this really took off lmao. Ive been saving for 6 years. Still have my 2001 trd 4x4. I wanted leather, loved everything the Pro came with. Resale is much higher, I still am using the fox stuff which is another great thing about this kit, and I can upgrade it down the road. I paid 44k for mine and am very happy with it. I get the draw for the off-road version too. Just to each his own the off-road I was looking at was 39900 so for me it was well worth 4k. If I was in CA and it was 8-10k more that would be a different story

No offense man but it’s only higher due to it costing more. I would be interested in someone looking at specific depreciation rate between the two. Not me though. I suck at math. Lol!

Actually Toyota values the Pro as the worst when it comes to depreciation. When you lease them the SR5 is given the highest residual value of all the Tacoma’s, then sport, Off Road and finally the Pro.

Maybe when the next gen tacoma goes full snowflake with nannies and they lose the manual trans, the remaining clean, original (especially MT) pros might be worth more than a comparable offroad to a small niche of people. This is years down the line. Kind of like the FJ market, where autos are meh, and manuals are still worth money if manual and especially if trail teams. OR like trd pro 4runners in certain colors (cement especially) going for stupid money with miles on them. Maybe lol....

it's probably true that my fogged up & scratched Pro tail lights won't be adding to my resale in x years.

I believe this. The trade in on my '16 Sport with 41k on the odometer was $6000 less than what I paid for it. I didn't exactly keep that truck pristine either

Well it’s just like a more expensive house, you just have a smaller market that want and can afford it.

TRD Pro 2018 1k miles paid 44k, trade in average is 37,617.

TRD Off Road 2018 1k miles paid 32,900, trade in average is 29,357.

This is just throwing it into KBB, but what you actually negotiate for a sale is dependent on a lot of factors. The Tacoma’s in general have great resale value, no matter the trim. @Whitetail Assassin

    Edit:
I paid 32,900 not 33, but still a pretty big difference. I’m sure an SR5 and Sport would show even less depreciation.

With my horrible math skills I did some calculations lol! I appears that is a 2% difference in favor of the Off-Road in head to head comparison. Interesting!!! Yeah both definitely hold their value either way that’s for sure.

    The Off-Road holds approximately 87%
    vs.
    Pro which hold approximately 85%.

I actually paid 32,900, typo on my post. But that has to do with negotiating skills as well, but everyone will pay the same. But when they have me the lease numbers for the pro, sport and off-road and sport was 77%, Off Road 73%, and Pro 70%, this was 3yrs and 36k miles. That’s crazy residuals and shows the strong resale on these things.

You might not break the shock itself, but it will bottom out before it hits the bump stocks, and cause internal damage.

Nice! Like I mentioned earlier I paid 32,500 and has everything I need for sure without the higher price tag! Leather wasn’t an option anyway in 2017. If I upgrade I may do leather but not totally topped out and it will be a manual once again!!!

When I went to buy my pro, there was 2 available used. Both were 43500 and both had 25k+ miles. Crazy. But that's a good thing all Tacomas hold there value great! Even my 2001 Insurance wouldn't total it unless the damage was over $10,000. Crazy stuff. Great trucks
