Did the connector on the 2012+ trucks change? I like the look of the black switches available on the later trucks, but every time I see one for sale it says for 2012 13 14. Can they be used in a truck from 2005-11?

I have been working on this project some more and may be on to something if anyone else is interested. Using wiring diagrams from 2007 and 2013, I have discovered that a simple rearranging of pins should be all that is needed to get the windows working on the two front doors. I have everything drawn up on paper and will be doing the pin swaps in the morning. Both front doors use the same harnesses that are on the 2007 trucks with the exception of the passenger door lock switch. I used the old switch to fab a harness for the new-style switch. Once I get everything switched around and tested, I will update here with results. The rear window switches are 100% plug and play, 2013 drops right in to the 2007 door and harness.

I've got everything working except for the front passenger window, but it wasn't working before the swap. I had hoped that a new switch might solve the problem, but it is still non-functional. I will have to look into it further. I am 100% certain that wiring is not the problem. I will post later with some pictures and a wire-swapping how-to.

Here are the instructions for the master switch. This is as viewed from the back of the harness, the side where the wires go into the harness. Pin 8 must be jumped onto Pin 9 because the swap at the harness is not possible for that pin. The connector is physically too small to fit the larger pin at Location 9. It can safely be jumped since Pin 8 serves no purpose and goes to an unused connector on the board. I have included a pic that shows a good location to make the connection.

You will also need to swap Pin 3 and Pin 4 on the passenger front harness (solid blue and solid white).

Here is the adapter harness I made for the lock switch on the front passenger side. This is necessary because Toyota changed the shape of the connector on the new lock switch. I took an old lock switch, cut it up with a Dremel to get at the connector part, soldered a 3-pin servo wire onto it, and then connected the harness in the door to the harness I made. I then plugged the servo wire connector into the new lock switch and it works! Important point: the middle pin on the servo wire must go to ground. The other two don't matter. If you plug it in incorrectly and lock/unlock is reversed, just swap it around and it will work correctly.

I covered the soldered connections with liquid electrical tape.

Yes, my fingers and hands need moisturizing!

when you say swap pins do you mean cut and splice wires or can you remove the pins and swap individually? not entirely following along.

is this fix for the passengers side switch assembly on the passenger side or the drivers side passenger lock switch on the drivers side?

I carefully removed the pins from the harness and swapped them around. Cutting and splicing will not work because some wires will need to go in slots that currently have no wire.

The passenger side fix is performed on the passenger side 5-pin harness.

oh ok, that's not too bad then. may get the switch and wire it up sometime later.

is the drivers side switch panel plug and play?

Not even close. That is what my diagram shows. Numerous wires have to be moved around in order to work properly.

I think I follow a bit now. you cannibalized the old switch plug assembly to make a connector for the new one then? after I get one I might be able to find whatever connector fits that from my experience fiddling with the adapter for the 12+ a/c controls.

would your wiring diagram work for an access cab tho?

Yes, cannibalized the old lock switch to make a harness for the new one. The window switches use like-shape harnesses and only need the pins moved around.

The access cab wires are located at different pins.

It can be done on an access cab. Give me a few days and I will make a diagram for it. I'm on a phone for now because the internet is down. Ice storms suck.
