Going over this wiring and finding zero issues..........beginning to question if this FIC can actually manage this ECU the way we need it to. This has not been tuning.......this is nonsense. Im finding tons of complaining and dead ends everywhere I look when it comes to this AEM unit in the forums. Especially with later Toyota ECUs. Every complaint I find to AEM seems to be combated by their YOUTUBE video on how to setup the FIC on a factory wideband. Ive found several who say they've tried their steps and it does nothing.

Im still going to spend some time on this thing before I move on to something else. Really hoping Im doing something wrong, but so far its not looking good

I think there was a option for the O2 skew that had a high drive function. It's been a while since I've been in the software. It made my 01 WB truck react to fuel and O2 changes and was able to do a decent road tune.

This. If I remember correctly there is a box you need to check in the O2 settings for these older Toyota widebands.

There are a few options in the O2 table setup...... You may choose:

    LOAD INPUT:
    -MAP
    -MAF
    -TPS
    -O2

    MODE:
    -Fixed
    -Percent
    -Voltage
    -Offset

Load Input- I have it with load input based on the AEMs internal MAP sensor.

Mode- I have tried all 4 modes and get zero results

There is a box that I have never checked- its labeled high level drive!

Is this the answer? Sure hope so! Be back soon............

Just checked the box-entered 1 into the o2 table globally as I held throttle at 2krpm and watched AFR jump from 14.7 to 12.5 as I did so.

Cased closed. All about the check box!

    Thanks TMFF!!

I will report back with how solid the control is once I have some time too spend on it

Seems to be working great now. O2 skewing is dictating afr........and Im using the fuel table to keep stft around zero so it doesnt tell ltft what Ive been up to and ruin everything.

Hopefully these results hold up.....as long as stft is close to zero, cant see why they wouldnt.

It was as simple as checking a box. Im really liking that fix.

I got my FIC many years ago and had to wait for that feature update. Are you running z104 or z110 firmware? When you do a quick throttle blip excelerattion, close throttle then blip again (while rolling) is there a pickup?

That must have been rough waiting on the feature..........not sure what firmware Im on but I can check tommorow.

I havent done a whole lot of driving since I was able to setup the AFR/voltage/stft table and really get things going but I was able to get it in the ballpark real quick. I did a few hard tugs 1st through 3rd and it was perfect, no hiccups. Also did a few full third gear pulls with no issues, no laboring pissed off engine.....just smooth boost.

I need help with the wiring part pls. I have all the pins located except for this little fella:
    Screenshot_2019-04-26-11-13-07-1.jpg

I downloaded the wiring diagram and have looked through the ECM pdf, but AF1+ is nowhere to be found:
    Screenshot_2019-04-26-11-06-11.jpg

Is this because I have a '96 which is O2 vs the newer models that have wideband? Can someone please tell me which pin to tap for O2 sensor? Thx

Why not use the Boomslang harness? sorry not trying to be an asshole but im terrible with electrical things and see it as the easiest plug and play work around

I tried the boomslang. Long story short, it didn't work so I'm wiring it in myself.

No surprise the cam/crank configuration is the hardest set to keep straight...
because this chart is WRONG!!!! CAM1 MAGI+ is on pin 9 of the FIC-6 24-pin connector, NOT PIN 5 as indicated on line 14. 'AEM Pin' column on line 14 should be 22/9 not 22/5

Also, this chart is poorly organized as it does not maintain the in/out relationship across the sensors and injectors. For sensors, input from the sensor connects first to the FIC-6, and output then goes to the ECU, but the AEM Wire column is not consistent for sensor intercepts. If you use this table, I recommend changing the intercept specification in 'AEM Wire' column to show which side connects to the ECU (first) and which side connects to the device (last). If you follow the same pattern set by the injector lines (first spec is connected to the ECU), you should change line 9 and line 13. To accomplish that: for line 9, 'AEM Pin' and 'AEM Wire' are better written as '15/14' 'MAF OUT + / MAF IN +', and for line 13 they would be better written as '21/19', 'CRK MAGO + / CRK MAGI +'. Important to note that even if you disagree and would rather 'AEM Pin' and 'AEM Wire' columns instead be organized as first input then output (changing line 14 would follow), the sensor rows are still not consistent, and that makes following that unmodified table more error prone. As a guide, best if it adheres to a pattern...

FWIW, I am in the middle of enabling the FIC-6 on my tacoma, so I have not tested any of this to ensure my suggestions work, but the table is still wrong. After I complete the install, I'll provide an updated table when I can verify it works.

My tacoma started right off (well, after I plugged in the ECU connectors when it didn't ;)) with my modified understanding of that table. Furthermore, I am able to start with the bypass harness in place. I am now working on tuning via the software so I will not be working on a corrected table until time and priorities permit.

Does anybody have info on piggyback wiring harness capability for an 04 taco? In the chart on the first page it's missing info for 03-04.

Thanks, just checked their website and it looks like they make a plug and play harness.
