Just did something similar to this. Either way, had to take the housings apart. It was really easy. No where near as hard as you probably think it is...

Spend the $4 and go with Satin... no question.

I'd go satin. I just did mine with satin and I think it came out looking pretty good. When you do the pre-burn, it shines it up nicely.

could i use clear silicon caulk? the brand is ge and its premium clear silicon caulk permanently water proof flexible to a degree and has mold control lol i have extra tubes laying around. it seems ok to me so long as i clean the old adhesive out really well and give it ample time to dry it says its ready for water in three hours. any help would be great it seems like it would be easier to work with when reassembling the light housing.

I have used that stuff before... and it's horrible. It does not do a great job with plastic and actually comes apart over time especially in heat.

    Sounds great!

The window weld is a way better alternative to the silicone, way less of a mess. I wish I had read this when I did the lights on my dodge

I got some from autozone. It was right where all the silicone and sealant was. They didn't have the 3M kind though, but it worked nonetheless.

I had also looked at pep boys and they had 3M window weld but it was more like a silicone sealant in a large tube that goes in a calking gun
