Hello TW, i have read the how to buy a Tacoma thread, and it applies mostly to new vehicles. I am in a situation now where it is time to replace my Tacoma, and honestly I have only bought vehicles from family so I have no idea how to get the best price. I want to pay 20k out the door or less and have 4 trucks in mind.
    Truck #1 https://www.romenissan.com/vehicle-details/used-2017-nissan-titan-sv-rome-ga-id-30787643
    Truck#2 https://www.mariettatoyota.com/inve...edium=referral&utm_campaign=cargurus_listings
    Truck#3 http://www.colesauto.net/vehicle-details/used-2017-nissan-titan-s-monroe-ga-id-33143000
    Truck#4 https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...elper.selectedEntity=c26136#listing=255333914
Please do not flame me, as no they are not Toyotas, but my peeling paint and slipping transmission on my current Taco (and the lack of availability of 5.7 reg cab tundra) has me looking at the Titan.

Why do you want a Nissan Titan in the first place? A Titan isn't going to be any more reliable than fixing the issues on your 2007.

Have you considered spending the $20k on a more reliable car - a Honda or Toyota - even if it's not a Taco?

Alternatively, why not fix your gen2? Gen2 is often considered the sweet spot for the Taco.

That in mind, don't bother going in-person since you're young. Let your fingers do the walking and work through email to negotiate the best deal. Play the dealerships against each other, even doing so openly, saying "X will sell truck A for $N, can you sell truck B for $N-1 because reasons?" - repeat back and forth until you're getting a good deal.

Remember, vehicles - used ones included - are commodities. There's millions like the 4 above and it's never worth rushing into an expense that high.

I'm letting the Tacoma go because my little cousin wants a truck and he said he'd buy it even with the transmission needing replaced so long story short he's buying it for $2500 bc I love my family. Basically i just want a 2 door V8 and the new titan has all the options I want (barebones and v8). What would be a good reason to tell them only 20k out the door? I don't want to sound uneducated and get ran over when I contact them, as I am terrible with words

    I will look into that

Do you take like a blank check and keep it in your back pocket and fill it out if they hit your number?
