Hey, thanks a lot. What do you think of the closed-loop system in Seadoos vs. open-loop in Yamahas? I can't tell if the seadoo is marketing BS.

Basically if you had to pick seadoo vs. yamaha what would you choose? I am leaning away from kawasaki because supposedly they burn a ton of gas.

Buy the one with the biggest presence in your area. Seadoo is much bigger where I live, I have an older model and a new one last year. I also prefer the look of Seadoo over the Yamaha. But the Yamaha is a nice unit and I would buy that if there were more nearby.

The closed loop only really makes a difference if it gets used in saltwater; I live in MI so its freshwater only.

I ride freshwater inland lakes in waves less than 3 feet. I usually ride alone and like to explore and also spin / splash around. New pwc like the all the Seadoos except Spark and Yamahas are large, heavy (800+ lbs) and while they can spin around and go fast, its not what I want. I grew up on older, smaller and just as fast 2 strokes so I want the fun of my younger years, and not the bigger boats of today.

    Thanks for the info -

Any easy way to estimate the fuel consumption on a jetski?

On a boat I read to use a rule of diving the engine horsepower by 10, and that will be your full throttle gallons per hour use. So a 150hp engine would burn 15 gal per hour at peak use. But I'm not sure if that is accurate.

If you get a stand-up ski, be prepared to be humbled for a few weeks while you learn. Sit-down PWC's are very easy to ride.
