Plexus is good stuff and is what I use. The main problem with the lens on this vehicle and every other Toyota truck/4Runner I have had is that it is slanted the wrong way and catches the sun. After replacing the lens on my 4th gen 4Runner I had back in the day I learned to use the plexus and only wipe the lens up and down and never side to side. I use a suede microfiber lens cloth to wipe it. I am sure it is leaving micro scratches but they are invisible because the light never catches them.

I wipe my lens down every time I wash the truck (weekly) and don't have any visible scratches on my lens. If I get one, I will just replace it. Looks like no tools are required to pull the bezel around the cluster and then screws to R&R the lens.

Don't do that! I managed to blow some dust in my cluster. The lens is not sealed, there are open holes where you press to reset the trip meter.

Do they make a screen protector for this by chance or has to be custom?

Not to mention the dust that gets in through the little dial thing for brightness adjustment. STUPID.

Between that and the hairline scratches on the plastic, I'm getting a new screen, putting a light rock guard tint on it and a rubber gasket of some kind on the hole. I put a light rock guard tint on the screen by my shifter cause it scratches bad too, not to mention how bright it is at night. Looks great now! AND doesn't scratch.

Does anyone know how hard it is to replace it? I'm thinking I want to replace it with a new one with a screen protector .

How did you get it replaced? Warranty?

Best buy will do custom protectors but you have to bring the part in to them. Cuz they use moisture and a machine to dry it.

Nothing, warrantied. My trip meters were resetting randomly and the Tach and Speedo needles were ticking /hanging up instead of smooth operation.

You can buy sheets of film that you can easily put on yourself it's just a matter of how hard it's to get in and out of the dash

I read about this issue early on and have vacuumed with a soft brush only. Never wiped it with a cloth, still looks good, no scratches, fwiw.
    Thanks TW-

You guys need this... I've posted in another thread before about it. Works better than any method without scratching. If you're all scratched up already, it should prevent further damage. It wicks away and absorbs dust and grit, preventing you from actually swiping or scratching when cleaning. Takes a little getting used to as it's very slimey, but easy to tack up everything. I even use it for pet hair on my seats.

    It's a detailing gel.
