No reason to buy new headlights. A good head light restoration kit will make them look like new. The reason they get foggy is that the UV protection which is in the plastic lens breaks down and deteriorates from UV’s and environmental pollution. When you restore them whatever UV protection was still in the lens is wiped out. The secret to keeping the lens clear is to apply a UV protectant a couple times a year. It calls for applying the protectant once a year but I apply it twice a year. I did my lights around 4 to 5 years ago. Every 6 months I apply Meguiars spray on UV protectant. They still look great. My truck isn’t garaged and is outside 24/7 but my headlights remain looking like new. Here’s a pic of my headlights and a pic of the protectant. I originally used Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight Restore kit and it did a fantastic job. Still looking great after years. If you don’t use protectant the lights will get hazy and foggy within a couple months.
I would also suggest using a headlight kit like Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight Restore rather than off the wall things like insect repellent, wd40, toothpaste and others. We know the commercial headlight restore kits work great and we know they won’t damage the lens.

I used the cerakote kit and it worked well on my 05.

I used the 3M kit on my wife's old Rav4. Made a huge difference both in appearance as well as light quality. I can't speak to longevity as we sold the vehicle about 6 months later.

I plan to try the Chemical Guys headlight polish and a 4" wheel on my DA for my truck this spring.

All of the headlight kits work well. If applied per instructions all of them will clear the oxidized headlights. The secret or key to them remaining clear more than a couple months is to apply a UV protectant.

Personally I buy the Mirka Abralon pad direct in 500, 1000,2000 and 3000 grit. Work great with a DA. I buy the ceramic coating in bulk direct from Cerakote. Work from 500 to 3000. There is no need to polish the light clear after the 3000 step just apply the coating. Here the lenses I just did on my sisters car. 5290F6A2-BCBC-43A1-8F3A-386C89D4EAF3.jpg025CE89C-AC67-42A5-90D3-91395826842C.jpg 3F82DEEA-5101-4B6F-8005-6F21F01CA862.jpg

You're welcome. Did my 2nd gen 2+ years before I traded it, they still looked great! Depending on location, UV protectant would be a good idea.
