This is a great idea - do I have to be concerned about using a torque wrench to put the bolt back in and set it to an exact Torque setting, or just screw it in tight? Would the D Ring just sit in between the tailgate and the bolt? Seems easy.

Stick to the specific German Torque setting of Guten tight

Ok, if he’s sleeping under a tonneau cover, I suppose a solution for the tailgate rope
Depending what on what you are closing in the tailgate, you could get by with 275 cord. If you tell us what you are hauling we’d know for sure. :)

My bike literally fits PERFECTLY at a diagonal angle in the bed with the tailgate closed.

I lift the bike up into the bed, wedge the front wheel in the corner, then close the tailgate, and it stands on its own. I then strap it down.

If the tailgate is down, it flops over. My trouble is getting the tailgate closed while holding the bike so it doesn't fall.

Oh God...I can see it now “help, stuck in bed and writing from my phone, how do you open the tailgate from the inside...?”

Mark my words, the day will come where this is a thread on TW.

Push that shit in there and slam that tailgate. Much better for the back. Body (or dead body) mechanics are everything.

This could have been me. I was looking for where the gaps were when I installed my bed cover. I had my wife outside, I got in and she closed the tailgate so I could see where the light was coming through so I could seal those areas up. I didn't think she was going to let me out at first. I could hear her laughing.

Dude, not hating.......You just left Soooooooo much to the imagination and we had to improvised. Now had you splaned your predicament in the beginning, you might have bypassed all the "Hating" but you would of missed out on all the fun!

You're telling me you have to stand in the bed of the truck to load a bicycle? How about lift the bike into the bed from the outside. hold the bike with one hand, and shut the tailgate with the other? All without ever needing to climb into the bed. I feel like you're overthinking this.

    It's just a bike?
Temp prop it up with some 2x4s? Boxes? I'm impressed this needs a committee to resolve.

Guys I have to load a 160# uh...

...“Water balloon” into my bed from time to time. On occasion I can fit the water balloon diagonally if I bend it’s knees but then I can’t get the tailgate up. Suggestions?

That’s because 2nd gen forums are discussing the best fitted baseball caps to wear backwards and trading nickleback music video links. Land of the generic and boring.
