How to Custom Startup and Screen Off

Seems like too large of a file wont take. Got both startup and off screesn working....kind of cool

 

Page 60 of the owner's manual....
-Folder names have to be exact and are case sensitive... "StartupImage" and "DisplayOffImage", according to the manual.
-Files must be JPG or JPEG.
-File name can be up to 32 characters max.
-Images must be 5MB or less.

 

I got the images to work no problem, but the stock Toyota emblem still pops up first at start up. After that my custom image flashes for about a half a second. I tried to overwrite it, but that doesnt work. Is that how it works for you guys? If not, any advice?

 

Unfortunately, that's all you get on the start up image. Wish it were different, but it's not.

 

I went with this one for startup...


...but will prob change it to the display off so I can have it on the screen more often and at the press of a button... Will prob make the BSOD my new startup

 

Never got the screen off to work

 

So you must have entune for this to work? I have a 2013 and can't seem to figure it out... Any help greatly appreciated

 

I couldn't get the 'screen off' to work either, but both of these looked pretty good for a split second.

 

Cant complain with that image. I went with a black background with large "G" for mine.

 

after reading this forum everything worked great. I did however change my formatting on the memory card from fat to fat32. I played with the best image size and on my truck i used 790x480 image resolution so i wouldn't have to stretch small images so much and it also keeps the files sizes dowm. there are no black bars on the sides or the top. I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport with Navigation. here are a few of the files i made.

 

Formatted a USB drive to FAT using a Mac, created the folders, resized a few images to 1280x720 and copied to the respective folders. No problems at all with the truck finding the images and transferring...and all images fill the screen. Free mods

Great thread. I had the not reading usb error at first when trying to transfer the startup image. I went to screen off image which worked and then back to startup and all worked fine.
