Or kicking it off the jack stands lol.

My one and only major break so far was hopping the rear in Moab on Behind the Rocks, the rock won.

I'm wondering why you didn't chop that tree at the ground then move on.

Trying to be responsible and not permanently modify the trail. I think someone had a small chainsaw with them but it probably would have been a PIA to get the tree cut and removed given the circumstances.

Funny. That was my first suggestion. Hell, I even had the chainsaw out. Then the rest of the group veto'd my simple solution
I had my saw with me. I would have used it had the winching recovery failed. Cutting it down before you exploded your shit wouldn't have been fair to the tree or the groups entertainment. lol

Amazing offroading and stories! Bummer about all the carnage, love the attitude towards it.

Coming from "Mr. I can't do another trail because my hangers are bent" your accusations mean nothing. :luvya:

Though that will probably be true once I get these 40s on, who knows what's going to blow out first.

Which would have meant we'd have to finish the trail because we where past the point of no return. But yeah, the carnage happened at a pretty good spot to get out quick.

What do you mean "now"? Your only hard trail ever was Dusy 2 years ago. lol

This is why I'll never run RCVs. I'd rather the CV be the weak point. Those you can actually fix on the trail.

Time to kill this IFS crap and go SAS.

37's + IFS = breaking stuff? Who knew!?

The damage sure sucks big ones but if you're going to be stuck somewhere (geographically)...that looks like the place to be. UNBELIEVABLY beautiful place you were at. Fun times.

Fordyce is towards the top of my bucket list . . . . in our Jeep. Despite what happened, I think it's cool as hell that you took the Tacoma through it.

Is the truck back to 100% now?

It would be if I hadn't chopped off the back of the bed/frame, fitting 40s, and learning how to regear a Dana 60 and a Toyota clam shell. Still got several weeks before I can offroad again

I am surprised you didnt break your rack n pinion as well. After going to 37s I've broken 3 of them as well as 3 cv axles.

I'm usually really gentle on my truck while crawling except the one time on Fordyce. Only other issues other than that first bent toe rod I have had with the steering are the poly bushings, which after putting on 37s only lasted a couple months for the year I was running them. Spent more time with excessive steering slop than not. I have kept a spare rack with me since putting on 37s just in case.

The seals and fluid boiling seemed to be my biggest failures on the rack.
