Selling my Tacoma, and the KBB is X dollars, but tit doesn’t reflect all the mods-good and bad.

    Truck

    1999 Toyota Tacoma SR5

    241k miles

    4:56 gears

3” rear lift with extra spring

    3” in the front (spacers)

    Old man emu kit

    Airbags in the rear

Lights- iffroad , underglow and a whip.

    Custom bed that’s been modified

    CB radio

    Aux switch panel

Gear oil, engine oil, fluids have all been replaced in the last 2 months

    K:m air filter

    Snorkel

9500 pound winch in the front (works really well)

    New front and rear brakes

    New CV AXLE and alignment.

    31”Bridgestone ko2s in good condition.

New windshield high lift jack included

It's really worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it. Stock, factory OEM trucks command higher resale prices.

Price it on the upper end of the "great shape" scale.
Unless it's a custom one off truck, don't expect to get your money back on modifications.
Expecting to get top price of the value range is acceptable.

The mods are buyer specific and unfortunately add no value to most especially on a 25 yr old truck with 250k on the odo. The truck is worth what the market will bear whether that’s 10k or 4k.

Otherwise you are going to have to rely on as many comparables in your area. Not easy to do given your trucks age and modifications. Curious, what would insurance give you if it was written off tomorrow?

That makes sense, I mean, I know mine is somewhat unique, but still.

And honestly that’s where I have it. KBB is like 8.8k . The feeling of putting money into a truck and not getting that value is tough

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
“Custom” is for sure the right term for some of these “upgrades”

That’s a great question, and a good way to determine value

Seeing the pictures, KBB is probably on the higher end for the average buyer, but you might get lucky from the 4x4 crowd or the farm truck crowd being a flatbed lookin mod like you have. It's an interesting looking truck, and that's both bad and good for resale. Given the sale value, I'd just drive it until the wheels fall off.

    Tell me about it.
    I know from experience.
When I sold my 1st Gen, I lost over $4k in mods.
At that was over 20 years ago.

Sometimes it’s about making things work, not really hating.. looks like you done lots of living and the truck has gotten you there, good for you.. good luck with sale or whatever you may decide

Where I’m from that’s a farm truck at best unfortunately. For most it has no value as a daily. Even if you can find the right person who may use like you do it’s still 250k 25yr old truck. On KBB it would fall under the poor condition option unfortunately. IMO id drive till it dies. Good luck!!

Overall modifications don't equal anything in resale.

I see a truck with a missing grille, a bed that must have rotted off to get replaced with a flat bed, and an undesirable light bar bolted through the hood. A little harsh, but also reality.

Given the mileage, I likely wouldn't pay more than 3-5k for that.

If your interested in maximizing resale, stock is best. Mods really don't add value at all, no matter what was paid, or how much you value those mods

    That’s a $4k truck and only that high because it’s a 4x4 Tacoma
