I agree, and the black anodizing is easy to scuff/scratch. I wish I had gone silver as well, but man the black looks good up there.

Working on an inside corner Keder rail, similar to what @CayucosTacoma made for his. I'll post the files once they're good to go.

Do the 100# gas struts that lift the roof get easier to compress after a few cycles? My first go at closing the lid in my garage, the top rails flex like crazy just to get the struts to begin compressing.

I think they do, but you should move the mounts for the struts around until it's easier. It's trial and error.

Will the keder rail cord and tent fabric be able to slide through that tight of a corner? It seems like a larger radius or two-part design would make it easier, especially if the corner piece has a long way to slide.

Not sure yet, but I'll find out and adjust if it's too tight. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, as I'm finishing up the sewing portion.

    What hasn't been modified?
I wanted to try the optional canvas attachment method.
Also I had the 80/20 bar machines to do the sink in cam locks vs those corner pieces.
Also the bars were delivered Thursday so I gotta get them home and put together!!!

Well guys I'm done with the tent and canopy portion of my build.
Now I can start the interior build, solar, heater fans and a few cabinets to keep all the gear organized.
I used 1/8 thick aluminum honeycomb panels for exterior paneling from flat iron panel products Inc. For my folding floor it's 1/2 aluminum honeycomb as well.
Due to the fact that I don't have two side doors I didn't add the extra supports in the middle and am using the rigidity of the paneling being bonded and riveted as the extra support if it even makes a difference.
Also for the pnw the single door made more sense to keep the rain and cold out.
Total weight of canopy without fabric and line x coating was 227 lbs.
Assuming that line x and primer probabaly added 5lbs and the tent adding another 10lbs I'm under 250lbs for the final weight and I couldn't be more stoked about it!

Thank you @Ripcord for your write up. It gave me the drive to just build one myself and my goal was to make it look as professional as possible and I think its pretty close to passing as a company made product.

Just want to give a shout out to @howied who gave me this awesome alternative to the condensation mat that's on Amazon.

It's pet resistant screen door mesh from home Depot, and was $18, and was nearly the perfect size for the platform. I only had to trim about 2-3" off the end and it works fantastic. The roll you want is 48x96.

Slept in the tent last night and the underside of the mattress is bone dry.

Has anyone else tried this gas strut solution? I’d love to be able to ditch the side latches and I’m curious if this is effective in the long run.

For a 1/8 4'x8' sheet it's about 500 bucks but shipping it was just as expensive of course

Yep, I did that on mine as well.

I still use the side latches, but probably not even necessary.

    Well,

If anyone in the LA area is interested in a complete build camper based off ripcords design, I'm possibly selling mine. Only thing left is the tent portion. Sides are bolted on and can have windows if wanted. Used 6mm panels instead. Sits high enough to clear the shark antenna. Just don't have the time to finish the canvas, nor do I have the patien. Material is all cut out and ready for sewing. Along with netting and zippers, keder and see in keder. Will also throw in extra paneling and 1.5 extrusion to build what you want and the sewing machine. Asking $4k obo.
