Tent is done!

 

Yes, I read through the instructions on the first page and read through the BoM. It was just difficult to tell if there were any parts that may overlap between the wedge and the space frame due to difference in supporting and mounting the wedge with or without the space frame base.

 

Cool, I didn't do the tent...yet...lol.

What is the weight of the shortbed space frame including the doors and panels (latches, hinges, gasket,etc)?

 

Got the first set of zippers sewn onto the tent - can’t take credit, mom is the seamstress.



And got my welding fixture built over the weekend.

Just want to say a big thank you to @Ripcord for sharing all the details and "know-how's" for getting me to this stage!
I will probably in the future build the wedge tent when the kid has outgrown us and doesn't want to join our trips anymore, shes 8 years old now so it wont be that soon, but for now we will happily enjoy how our rig is set up, will probably add some drawers and fridgeslide for easy access of stuff.

Thanks for now everyone, i will continue reading this thread and chip in with a comment every now and then, and look forward to other builds being completed!

Looks great! What did you use to secure the flaps when rolled up? Debating how I want to do mine right now.

 

thanks! I just used two small parachute buckles on each side of the windows.

 

This is all I have done as of right now, but I took it camping last night and just put a tarp over it! lol

how hard was the sewing for you? or did you have it done?

 

sewing was definitely the hardest part for me. I did it all myself but it just requires a lot of time and patience.

 

Finally mounted! Still needs some minor tweaking but I’ll be sleeping in it this weekend. Thanks again @Ripcord never would’ve undertaken this without the guide

Finally finished it up at took it out for a quick overnight maiden voyage. Thanks to everyone especially Ripcord for all the advice.

Got a ton done on my spaceframe over the weekend. Everything is fitted up and I got a good chunk of the welding done (also forgot how much harder out of position welding is hahaha!). I’m hoping to finish up welding the base frame tonite and get the gussets on this weekend.



Also got the tent most of the way done: doors and mesh are all finished, just needs the hem for the keder and the rain skirt.

Ordered my 8020 today too. Didn’t realize how long the lead times were on the black extrusion so I went ahead and got the ball rolling on that so it doesn’t hold me up later.

Also FYI to anyone wanting Black the 1545-Black is out of stock so you have to order 1545-Black-FB. The only physical difference is the cut ends are also anodized black but the catch is the processing times are longer. I talked to an 8020 rep and he said this is because they only have silver in stock so they cut it to length and then send it out for anodize.

 

Also just made the craigslist score of the year! Movable Honeycomb floor panels here we come!
