I thought I recognized that. I have the same material, but in coyote brown. I don't have it up yet, seems durable. A little too translucent, but will do for now.

No I diddnt. I just sketched it out. As I started cutting things I would go back and measure and hold parts up on the truck to to see if the looked right. seems to have worked.

How did you end up attaching it to the bed?

Currently I have four of the universal truck cap mounts. They are basically a c clamp. I may add a couple more or do something different in the future.

I'm drawing up brackets in CAD to have SendCutSend laser cut and bend out. They'll be the same as the GFC style.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you the file to have them cut.

Has anyone attached an awning to theirs yet? If so, what was your solution?

Ripcord himself did it. He has pictures after the gallery of people who have made a wedge on the first page

@Ripcord do you happen to have photos of how it is attached and avoids the latch?

Has anyone made a version that's got panels that lift up or out to give you all the open space above the bed?

Similar to the vegabond drifter or the alucab?

some have done a tilting bed platform and the removable panels. Key thing for the removable panels is getting affordable composite panels.

There’s some floating around in this thread. basically just made a rail platform out of angle iron welded to the space frame and created a movable platform out of aluminum.

I had this same issue. What I did was, I cut a slit into the arm which allowed me to bend the arm further up. To finish the job, I simply tacked a few spots with the tig.

Fitted to sit on the Bowfin rack as a base. 3” above the rack, 4” thick if you count the cross bars that I integrated with the bottom. I made the windows as big as I felt comfortable with to maximize views while in the tent. Still a couple small tweaks but did well in Utah during a week long trip.

Thanks to Ripcord for the detailed info.

Well, after spending full three days at the shop from sunrise to sunset I was able to finish my frame. Just need to weld on brackets and end caps. Was so frustrating as nothing was aligning right , after messing up so much material my final cut pieces had pretty large gaps lol. Anyways was able to finish it, looks decent :)9D342C00-60E7-48FB-9515-884D6235E562.jpg9D342C00-60E7-48FB-9515-884D6235E562.jpg7FA3FD71-F6E9-4DF0-A3AF-DA5E696F5F67.jpg 9073C87D-B7B0-4AB0-90D4-12E20768E3AE.jpg
