and maybe filling gaps with weld...that too

 

Yessir. That exactly what I did. Tack welded all gaps until gap was fully covered! Monday brackets will arrive, will bend them and weld them on.

 

Yessir! 8020 sells powder coated rails in the 1.5" and 3"

 

Exactly the sizes I was looking at - super thin! What length did you go with?

What are you planning for your sleeping setup?

 

I went 90" side rails and the same 50" width Jim did. I ordered a custom 2" firm foam mattress and then a 1" soft foam to go on top. Hopefully I can get away with the 3" mattress. If not I will do an Exped.

Going with removable floor panels like the vagabond drifter.

 

What are your plans for making the floor panels?

Welded mounting brackets on, they seem to be a little short, I guess will see once I get my T-nuts.
Also dumb me completely forgot to drill holes for gas strut ball before welding the gussets......
Next is welding the cross bars. You think 2'x1' rectangular tube would be strong enough to have the rtt mounted to it?

 

Those brackets will be too short with the dust seals installed.

 

Dang. They been cut out using @Ripcord dxf file, not sure how that happened....

 

Is it just me or is your frame too short? Unless you’re doing something other than bolting the tent extrusion directly to the frame?

 

Modified DXF file and ordered new brackets. Will be fun removing these haha

I am making just a camper, no wedge. Will weld on. cross bars to mount my GFC superlite.
