I did it and went through TNUTZ. Another member I believe went through 80/20. Im not too happy how they integrated the countersinks. It essentially is on the outside flat. Where as the 80/20 does it on the top.

I am also doing the internal fasteners. I think it should be fine. The main reason doing miter was that I believe it would be easier to seal from water.

    Good afternoon all!
What hinges y'all using? I checked all hardware stores near by, all of them are either too small or too large.
    Tanks in advance!

I went with some 3” stainless from Home Depot. Works great

edit: I believe they are actually 2.5”

Here’s my attempt at a roof rack, position not finalized yet. Super sturdy and should hold plenty if weight.
for those who were on the fence about 1.5” vs 3” I have complete faith in the 1.5” for my personal needs.

@jp_flynavy the sheet metal mount to hold the gas strut at a downward force angle works great. Just installed the bulb seal last night so all good to go on the front. Still need to trim down the mount but concept works great.

they almost look 3D printed but would also go with machined aluminum

    100% infilled PETG 3D filament.
Insanely strong and I don’t think the parts will see high stresses; but also wouldn’t be worried under more stress.

aluminum would be cool, but lack of access to a mill because Covid sucks lol

If you want, I can chat with my friend and see if they could get those machined at work out of aluminum. I agree though, PETG is super strong and way more UV stable so it's probably a decent material.

Appreciate the offer! I’ll keep that in the back of my mind, but going to focus on getting this wedge finally finished first, been sitting for too long as is ha

For sure, just let me know. I like that technique of using the strut to hold the roof closed. Good thinking on that.

another member posted their idea for that before me and I liked eliminating the side latches.

It’s been a week and that hardware of the handle and wedge latches is already rusting.... gonna need to get some real stainless hardware for these.

What are the white panels everyone seems to using on their roof?

Its not an aluminum sheet is it? Having a hard time searching for alupanel or max metal panel that's available locally that doesn't seem like regular old aluminum sheets.

It’s thin aluminum (.012”) that surrounds a plastic composite center.
So aluminum outer, plastic composite, and aluminum inner wall.

How is everyone having someone route their composite panels? I've given the CAD files to multiple sign shops now and none of them are able to open them or have any idea what to do.
