Sorry for some reason I don't get notifications in this thread unless someone quotes me even though it's on my watch list.

I sent them DXF files for the CNC work - same file format that Ripcord provided (and as he mentioned a few pages back its a very standard format for this kind of work).

I generated my own files because I made some changes to accommodate my movable floor and repositioned my side latches because I did my side gussets differently but still sent the same type of file. If you're paying for them to CNC them out you midaswell have them cut all the rivet holes etc. as well. It makes your life alot easier down the line!

Got my steel today. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I’ll have the space frame minus the bed mounts done. The uprights will be difficult for me, I have always had issues with angles and Compound angles are double fun

Did they cut them out for you as well? What'd you do if not?

Both of these are solid options price wise! thanks all.

I think it went great, but it’s not perfect. I just used the extrusion for the outline and made a fence with a leftover piece of steel. You’ll have plenty of extra to practice with and save a few hundred bucks.

just a plum router from harbor freight and a good blade is all you need.

Any pictures of how it turned out with the router, that’s the option I’m looking at

Posted some more on my ig @dphowie, but some build shots below. They’re not perfect but I rushed some sections. Once you have the space frame and extrusion built, you have the outline you need for the panels. It’s not difficult if you build a fence (see picture below), just takes some time.

also is there anything i am missing as to why it may be better to order 3 100" sections of each type of 8020 instead of ordering it precut from them. Unless i mess up my cart, it made it cheaper with less taxes. @Ripcord ? if anybody has a reason let me know

I think most people are ordering them precut.

yeah, just to clean it up and I thought it looked a bit more finished. Got the idea from @Jarman02. If you do it, make sure to leave a little extra room at the top. If not it will make contact with the hinges and won’t be flat.

anybody think the 20lb 17" gas struts would do a better job to help keep water out by not creating so much deflection on the panels? looking at ways to help keep out as much water/moisture as possible..

my friend at P3d mainly deals with CNC type stuff. thats is area of expertise. Im just blown away SCS cant manage to do it

both makerspaces I have access to in town don't have press brakes but I could dork around with a 20 ton press and probably make it do. I'd just rather pay someone to make the brackets

Phew! got done with the spaceframe this weekend, came out better than I expected (for someone who doesn't know how to weld...) I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of friends and this thread!
I have a welding jig dissembled and ready for another spaceframe if anyone in the Portland/Vancouver area is interested in it (plus a few other things) PM me :broccoli:
