I stated with 30" from top of aluminium frame to bottom of roof frame. Your gas struts will dictate how high your top can go, figured that out last night... looking more like a pop distance of about 27.5".

Dont know how well the hinge design is going to work. Im waiting on all my gas struts to really get an idea but early tests the roof is wanting to go forward or backward off the camper while its rising. I almost had it fall off last night... not good. I may go with a design of 4 vertical posts attached to the roof that run through "receivers" bolted to the aluminium frame. that way its completely captured. Once opened all the way from the struts you could just pin the vertical post in the receiver and the roof wont be going anywhere... got to do some testing today as it may interfere with the fabric when folded down.

Thanks for the interest! As of right now I dont. It depends on what my work will charge me for machine time. Just finished the drawings today and will be submitting them for quotation tomorrow.

Still working on it. The first idea was to copy the lifting mec on 4 wheel campers/ OVRLND campers. Im not a fan of what I currently have. Still need to play around with it. It's all about how the hinges are located. I may not be able to get it done the way I want it though.

Did work on my other idea of 4 vertical pieces attaced to the roof then have them go through receivers attached to the frame. Here is 45 minutes for 4 pieces. Tomorrow Ill pick up some vertical pieces after work.

Spent the weekend outside Yosemite in the National Forest.
Got rained on Sunday morning and had some leaks inside the tent and quite a bit of condensation on the interior roof and inside tent fabric... Like a lot lol.

Overall, still loving the tent just need to fix a few oversights like my awning mount being too low for the door to open lol. Probably adding a roof fan to help with the condensation too.

I got some condensation as well camping the other week. Got my sleeping bag by my feet, where they rub the top, wet enough to change color, but not seep through.

Was thinking of gluing some outdoor carpet onto the top panel, on the inside. Might provide some insulation and help with the condensation.

Anyone think of any downsides to that?

Condensation is definitely an issue in these types of tents, you can even read the GFC forum and they have the same issues. I have thought about a quilted insulated fabric at least glued to the ceiling, similar to what you see in Roofnest tents and other brands. I never had condensation on the roof of my Roofnest Sparrow. Downside is it needs to be glued well as any vapor that gets behind can still condensate and then you have a larger issue of it taking way longer to dry.

From what I have seen in the GFC forums is that a roof fan does help.

Yea it was cold out and raining hard so not surprised by the condensation, just surprised by the amount present.
Im going to install a roof fan and see if that helps..
