Set up appt to get flush done at toyota. Tech says yes we do the flush and have the machine that works like a blood transfusion! Ok, I guess that is a fair way of explaining it. Get a phone call, would you like to have your rear brakes checked they are out of adjustment for 49.99, umm no thank you... would you like to have your air filter under dash replaced it is extremely dirty. Why are you in my glove box with out my permission???? And no! Just changed the fluid. Anyways, get the receipt for the fluid flush it is only 127.00 wow that’s cheap quote for 250ish... drive off look at receipt again and part number is for crush washer only on drain bolt and only 2 qt ws fluid...called tech he said they don’t do flushes??? Then what did you freaking say you did!!!!! Left one star review and GM calls we talk and I got 16 qt instead of him refunding me... smh what is wrong with these people these days? It’s like you have to be a moron to be a tech. FYI I own my truck, toyota does not get to tell me when I change my fluids... tech said well I don’t recommend it. Well when you buy one you do what you want too... nuts I tell you, just nuts!!!

Ok we know the dealer didn’t do a flush and only did a pan drain.

Something is still not right if he only put in 2 qts. It takes 3.2. I say your low.

I did the same this morning as @crazy joker. My trans fluid looked the same color. 3 1/2 quarts out. I will do every 30k - good plan!

The drain and check plugs use the same part and should both ideally be replaced. However, I did a total of 4 DAFs over the course of a few days and only replaced them on the last one without issue.

The fill plug uses an o-ring that doesn't need replacement...as long as it's not damaged

Questions to those who have done this successfully.

I tried to practice entering temp check mode, which I believe I successfully did. However, I'm not clear on the next couple steps. It says when the Temp check mode light is illuminated, it is ready to check. Does that mean a solid light for more than 2 seconds? When I entered temp check, the light blinked slowly the whole time while I was waiting for a solid light and I know blinking means it's too hot and to cool down and try again.

I used a 16 GA silver wire if that made a difference.

Yes, if it was blinking non stop, then it was to hot. When the ambient temp is warm to begin with, it doesn’t take long. It’s best to do it first thing in the morning after the truck cooled off overnight.

When it’s warm out, it takes a long time for the fluid to cool.

Yep. I made the mistake of flushing mine in the summer. It took forever for the fluid to cool. I’ll do it in the fall from now on.

I been wondering why people been using those cheap hand pumps that make a terrible mess when you can just use a 4 foot piece of house and pour it in. Makes the job a lot easier. Been doing it this way for years but keep forgetting to share!3E2C0621-DC1A-4C5B-ADF1-D647446BC07E.jpg 092DA9E4-79EF-4037-84E2-807E7E1B1866.jpg 57D277F5-7E23-4007-A001-EBE72790AEF6.jpg B7F585BE-C55B-48C8-B1FE-C1BD395978C9.jpg

This is precisely how I did my transmission including front and rear differentials. No pump for me.

The gallon pump sprayer from Walmart gets my vote. Just pump and pull the trigger.

Defiantly a great alternative. Especially if you don’t have a 24mm socket on hand

Are you able to locate the transmission pan? If so, the 14mm bolt is the drain. The bolt that you need a 5mm Allen hex to take out is the check plug. Both of these are located on the tranny pan.

And don't forget the fill plug on the right side (passenger side) of the transmission....toward the rear of the case
