How to ease a rough ride after 3" spacer lift?

    Im not entirely sure how much your thinking about this, but your wrong. MJP2 has been around these for a while, as have alot of folks on here, and I can attest, the above pic of the broken shock was due to the overall lenght of the assembly being longer than Toyota designed the suspension to handle. This happens when a Top Plate spacer is used, and the results of hitting a bump, can be (among other things) a broken shock.

    Don't get me wrong, that shock could have very well happen on a coilover with a spacer on top. The point I was making though (over all, not just this piticular pic) is that I don't see how a spacer on top can make for a harsher ride. (same goes for the rear spacer block under the leaf pack). The travle of the shock has not changed because you have'nt changed the shock or it's possition in the spring. The spring's travel has'nt changed, it's still the same spring. Granted, the spring may fully compress with the spacer being used because the top of the coilover is lower twards the lower control arm, however, if that is the case, I can't see the spring compressing all the way just driving around. Which, either that or stiffer spring rate, is what some people were implying when they said that they experienced a stiffer ride. And that is the impression I got from his post, that the spacer caused a harder/stiffer ride, and it was the harder/stiffer ride that caused the shaft to snap.

    Now in the case of the picture with the broken shaft on the shock... I don't know that much about the engenering and specs of the metal strengths of the coilover, but it seems to me that the shaft (where it broke) is the weekest spot. I'm not going to say that the spacer was NOT the cause of the shaft snapping, it very well could be; and maybe the shaft would never have snaped if the spacer was not used. But at the same time, do you think it is possible for the shaft to have snapped even if the spacer was NOT used?

    I don't know. Spacers may cause weekness, they may not. I just don't know. I can only speak from my personal experience, which has absolutly nothing to do with wheeling. My experience is only with really shitty roads taking the dirt bike to play and street driving, which is driving on some pretty shitty roads. LOL I live in Cleveland Ohio, and we used salt on the roads in the winter. So that, plus plow trucks, and our roads get really fucked up! Pot holes that are 4 to 6 inches deep are quite common, and I drive threw them without slowing down. Not to mention, I go over rail road tracks like they were'nt there, and many of them are bad enough that cars will smack the bottom of their engin/oil pan unless they go really slow over them. So I bang the hell out of my suspention daily, and never had that problem, and hopefully never will.

    Ok..>The Top plate type spacers dont affect the ride like pre load spacers do. The ride remains close to OEM.

    Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
    I had a 3 leaf pack before the tsb and a 4 leaf after. The rake of my back end was too high, and I put a 2.5 inch spacer lift up front which leveled out the truck. Hope this helps.
