Just followed directions above and worked like a charm the first time. So nice not to hear the horn every time I lock/unlock! Thanks, DaMann!

The lock verification is programmable soft to loud on my Camry. It's not a horn its a beep instead.Be cool if they made all Toyotas like that.

I tried all these fiddly procedures with my 2014, nothing worked. BUT, the beeper is located right near the battery, open the hood and press the unlock button while listening for it, you'll find it. Disconnect the wiring harness (there are only two wires going to it). Problem solved.

Any of these "spin around 12 times with a red-haired midget singing the national anthem on your head while holding the ignition key" solutions will revert to beeping if you ever disconnect your battery.

OK, strange. My beep beep came back today. Totally weird if you ask me. No power issues or new battery or anything like that. I had to dig back through TW to find this thread again so I could find the sequencing to kill the beep beep. Hopefully it works again.

This is basically a bump for future reference, but where the hell did you find that midget, anyway? Red haired female midgets have been on my bucket list for I don't even remember how many years! :D

Well, it works with either male or female. But if you've got yourself a red haired female midget, you can also..... Well, I will leave that up to you.... :taco:

Fuck. Yesterday the beep beep came back. Today my truck is dead.

    dammit.

It has power but the starter wont turn.

Timing is everything, were hosting a party today so I have to compartmentalize my anger and leave it alone until tomorrow.

Sounds like you have a connectivity problem. An intermittent open could account for the returning beep beep, as that is a hint that it reset to default. Battery cables are known to corrode internally, causing an interruption in the connection. If your battery checks out as rechargeable, my guess could be right.

Well...I got it running again. It's some kind of electrical issue for sure. First time I tried to jump it nothing worked. This AM I jumped it with my wife's car but had to let it run almost 15 minutes before it collected enough power to turn over. Drove it home, turned it off and it was dead again. boo. Jumped it again, pulled the battery connections off to check the alternator, no issues keep running just fine. So I drove into town and had the battery and the alternator checked at two different auto parts stores. All test results indicated that everything is fine.
The positive battery connection was corroded slightly, but nothing that I would expect to cause concern. I cleaned up both battery connections.

So....yeah. The whole "Well it works now" doesn't work for me. I need a solid solution that I can trust before this happens when I'm way the F out in the middle of nowhere of on a techy trail.

EDIT: In other news the sequence to silence the truck worked again.

    Cheers,
    Salt

On my 2012 Toyota Tacoma these procedures worked great!! I was able to turn off both the Beep and the Horn Honk when locking and unlocking doors. Now I just have the flashing lights but my neighbors won't mind that at 7am on a Sunday morning. Haha
