So I had been trying for months to figure out how to make this work and I finally got it:D What you need to do is format your USB drive as FAT32, create to folders spelt exactly StartupImage and DisplayOffImage , from there you need to make sure your images are jpeg format not jpg but jpeg. You add the pictures you want for the appropriate folder and then you can transfer them to the head unit :D If you are using a mac you need to use MS-DOS (FAT) for both the partioned disk and then main block device aka the manufacturer name of the USB. You can see what I mean with Disk Utility for Mac. I am not sure if it works with the JBLs but you can try that and cross your fingers

The format type, folder names, and extensions on your images need to be exactly how I mentioned or they will not work and you will get "USB not recognized or plugged in". I will get screen shots of what I did on the computer and the head unit later but wanted to post this tidbit of information. This should work on any Entune radio including the 3rd Gens.

Does this work for us that don't have the Entune or JBL system? I poked around under settings, and didn't see anything that was like I've read here on the forum.

    I have a 2014 truck

As far as I know it works with the entunes and not the JBL. You can follow my directions and see if it works on yours and we can update the post
