After having a 22 6MT Pro allocation cancelled because of chip shortages. I just got a call from my dealer offering me a 23 6MT pro in white allocation date is December.

I literally emailed every larger dealership in Canada looking for one. I'd follow up often on any of them that had potential. While it's pretty much luck of the draw it's hard to just "find" one out there. A dealer needs to know you're interested in one. They can then adjust an allocation if they can and let you know if and when one is available. If you just wait for one to come into stock you're already way behind anyone that did any legwork.

Some dealers let you know there is zero chance, some will tell you they can get one "for sure" (which may or not be true, and some will tell you they will do their best to land you one. I found the ones that said they would try to be the most reliable to actually try. They were the ones that would be transparent in how the allocation process works and how confident they are that they can eventually snag your exact model.

I waited seven months for mine to come in and had many irons in the fire. Ended up getting the exact truck I wanted for just under MSRP. Be patient and make lots of contact.

Dude...I can't believe you're still waiting on a truck. Glad I got mine when I did.

Here’s how I was able to get two 2022 TRD pro M/T’s in the span of 2 months

-Check Autotrader, they’re the only aggregator I’ve found that lists allocated trucks not ones that are on the way and pre-sold

-Date the regional sales manager in college and reach out to her 8 years later and have her find you one

Honestly I stopped looking. I had one cancelled in May. I made a deal on my pro auto with a dealer in Alberta on a sport manual. When it came down to finalize the deal they were going to give me more than msrp on trade but wanted a minimum of 8k of accessories on the sport at which time I said no thanks. Traded the pro in for an outback wilderness. They gave me what the Alberta dealer was going to do so no complaints. The call I got today was stricktly out of the blue from the salesman I was dealing with on the allocation that got cancelled.

    I took a detour

    changed my mind

just bought a 2022 Miata RF Club with BBS/Recaro

I love driving it but having two cars on top of the others I have (wife, four kids) isn’t as easy as I thought it would be so I’m back in the market. I figure getting rid of my full size truck and my Miata and getting a Tacoma will be much easier. One fewer vehicle in the driveway and on the insurance plan not to mention the property taxes in SC are awful.

No they aren’t. Dealers are selling more cars and trucks than they ever have, at higher prices.

I guess you skipped over 2020 and 2021 where this started. Not to mention four months for 2022 are unreported. They could be well over 100k units.

Your numbers also don’t show their used car greed.

    Fuck the dealers.

How I found my 4runner is I saw the color and model I wanted from a stealership here in socal, I reached out they said they put their lift kit and tires and wanted 60k, told the guy no thanks I'm looking for stock as I have my suspension parts ready to go. At that point normally they tell you either to kick rocks, try to sell you another model or try to talk you into theirs. This guy completely suprised me and gave me a list of dealers within 500 miles of me with that exact color and model in f status. Reached out to one of the dealers on the list and I that's how I found my rig. I was on the wait list for about a year up to that point with longo toyota (biggest dealer in California and I heard the entire us) they said I was number 72 after a year so no end in sight
