I get the feeling there's a really obvious, simple answer to this, but....

The 3 T-27 torx bolts that hold my access cab rear door latch mechanism in place (underside of the door) have fallen out.

How do I figure out what replacement bolts to order online, to make sure they fit exactly?

Take it to Lowe’s or Home Depot and use their bolt sizing guide to find the diameter and thread pitch, then google “(bolt size) T-27 bolt”.

Looks like an M6 1.0, maybe 25mm long.

You dont have to replace it with a torx head, whatever you find with a cone head and same size and pitch will work. If you dont find a black one, paint it.

If you need an exact replacement why not buy them from Toyota?

@LJ, yeah I'd love to buy them from Toyota. Is there a way to do that online, without driving to a dealership?

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
wasn't there a recall on this?
or maybe it was for seatbelt bolts in the door?
i remember getting a letter about something like that some years ago when i had an access cab.

There are lots of online OEM parts stores. Some have decent searchable catalogs. If you can get ahold of @gunny1005 he will be able to get you what you need. Have your VIN# handy.

He first needs the right size pitch and bolt size before he orders online. If I were home I’d measure it for him. I’m on holiday and return tomorrow night.

@Japhy yes, you can order online - if you have the right part #. Many dealers and vendors have schematics to look up the part #, but they are not all inclusive. It would be quicker to take one of the bolts to a hardware store or dealer.

McMaster Carr is my go to for hardware purchase online. Their catalogue is huge and they ship quick. Only downside is you buy in bulk but it beats paying $1/bolt or whatever absurd price at HD/Lowes. My only other local alternative is usually ACE but I get picky about bolt ratings when I need something for a specific job (such as grade 10.9 metric bolts) and they sometimes don't have what I need.

I go with boltdepot. They sell individual or bulk. Shipping may not be worth it if only buying a few pieces which is why I go to my screw collection and order whatever I’m running short on. The last time I startred a new assortment of stainless screws. But, I will check out McMaster; always good to have a backup plan, tnx.

    Yep.
    @Japhy

Pretty sure I have some bagged away from my tear down.

If you haven't found any replacements, I'll send you a set.
