How to fix the button lights on oem radio after LOC install

Upgrading my system this weekend in my 2016 DCSB, anyone with a 2016 know if I should still replace this wire as described to keep the lights lit up at night? I can say that the wire on PIN 6 is still missing from the Scosche harness.

 

Yes you do. The Metra harness had the orange/black still needed to add the accompanying wire on the male clip

 

Great and thanks! I bought an extra wiring harness to take the pin and wire from just in case.

 

Finally got a chance today to get this done after waiting forever! Good post! It worked exactly like it was supposed to.

 

Hey working on my t-harness do we need the blue wire on both sides of the harness male and female.

I wish I could have it done like yours but going to run the amp signal back through the wiring

 

If you are going to cut your harness up, just cut the speaker wires and leave the others alone. Then, you connect your amp output to the factory wires and plug the harness back in to retain the other functions.

 

Dont want to cut stock harness.
I am going to run speed wires from and to stock harness.
So far what I made is

Big connector
Red connected going to remote on loc
Black
Orange
Yellow
Speaker wires for feed and input

Where does the female blue go shall I definitely those?

Small harness
Speaker wires
Put the male blue in to this same position as you going to use another blue for the female end.

Does this look good

 

I'm confused what you're asking about. If you need help with wiring your LOC or amp, you should post in those threads. If you need help getting your buttons to light up after the install, the instructions are on the first page.

 

I understand the other thread just making sure I can just drop the harness in. . And it works. I just updated my post with pictures

 

What brand of connectors are those? Can you post a pic of the packaging with the wiring schematics for the colors? Just PM me that info and I will try to give you a hand.

 

So does the connector with the two purple and the two green wires just hang not connected to anything? I'm confused. From what I am gathering, when you install an aftermarket amp as in my case, the green/white wire in the blue factory connector is the power source for the button back lights and is this is what is lost with aftermarket harness? All I see (and understand) is a new harness with a single green/black wire that plugs back into the blue factory connector and then this single green/black wire plugs into the aftermarket rear speaker connector with the two purple and green wires but then it does not explain where this connector now plugs into since the single wire connector has now mated with the factory blue connector.

$12 Metra 71-1761 87 - 94 Toyota Vehicle Harness

Metra 71-1761 male wiring harness. Take the orange/black wire which is the radio illumination negative wire and splice that to a longer wire that you can run down to a ground bolt. I placed mine near the passenger seat kick panel and fed it directly beside my speed wire for the speakers coming out of the same adapter.

Turning my headlights on, I get radio illumination. Works perfect and original blue 6 pin male harness just left unplugged.
