Also makes no sense as the Pro probably has the highest profit margin too.

No money, all went to truck...
Hawaii is a little different than the rest of the US but I was able special order. Called dealership, ordered manual with package I wanted, put $500 down (fully refundable up to purchase) and 5 months later, WAH LAH, manual truck in my garage.

Was able to build a '23 Tacoma TRD PRO in 6 speed manual on the Toyota configuration website still. So that one guy claiming that Toyota called the dealer saying PROs are no longer made in in manual is a fabricated lie made up for the customer. That dealer had a higher bidder and thats whom it was sold to. If that was the case, the IT department would have pulled that option off the toyota website immediately.

    1) Find a high volume Toyota dealer somewhat near you.

    2) Put down deposit.

    3) Pray.

Good luck OP, new trucks with a real transmission are getting harder to find by the day. Soon there will be none.

Put out 3 or 4 deposits make sure they are refundable. Or you can chase down the truck you want and fly to it. In my case this year, I chose fly to it. I paid msrp, my flight was 200 bucks, and I got to drive 1148 miles alone on a mini pre Christmas road trip. Autotrader has some great filter and alert functions. Be ready to commit to it over the phone, and be ready to go get it within 24 hours. Usually they will hold it for you and pick you up at the airport. This last trip the dealer drove 2 hours one way to get me.

You have less than you think. Call around and begin shopping dealer to dealer, its a process but makes the search process and end result worth it for most. Check autotrader and cars.com filtered down to the manual transmission for one. Search your local dealers for inbound vehicles and remove the automatic transmission option.

Try calling Elgin Toyota in Elgin, IL. The inventory manager there has made a point of trying to capture the manual transmission market in the Chicagoland area. No guarantees but it's worth a shot.

In 2017, it took me 9 months to find a manual Tacoma. Then when I finally did, the dealership had 3. I would go around to the local dealers and ask about allocations. You might have to do some leg work.

Found our 2020 Sport access Cab MT on the lot in Grants Pass Oregon when we went to the dealer to see what they would give us for our Renegade. There was a double cab Off-Road MT in Medford at that time as well.
That was in January of 2020 though and before the madness.
Might check dealers out in the PNW. Tacoma are EVERYWHERE here!

My dealer informed me that my 23Pro Solar Octane 6MT was built on Dec 19. So they do seem to still making them. I have had a deposit for a TRD Pro 6MT out since Jan 2021 at four dealerships that do not charge more than MSRP. In between, they did receive several TRD Pros, just not the right transmission or color. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Traded by 19TRDOR 6MT for a GMC Denali in Sept 2020. Bought/changed 8 cars/trucks since then, still miss the 6MT taco. Plan to keep this one forever absent any dealership shenanigans.

I was shopping for my Taco in spring/summer of 2020. A used manual was hard to find but not impossible. Suddenly the market went crazy and finding even a used auto became a chore. Thought about buying new because at the time you could still customize them quite a bit. Looking at the Toyota website recently I have noticed that they have REALLY dumbed down the options for customization. I get why because of demand and the fact that someone might not be able to afford the truck a year after putting in the order but its still a shame.

Dunno where you are, but be careful in the Gulf States and SE regions. Dealers get what the region gives for the most part.

You'll have more flexibility, IMHO, in the Corporate regions.

I got lucky. There was one on my lot, but I've been hawking for a while looking for a manual. Easiest way is to get on auto trader and open up the search to new manuals and take a drive.

I just did that for my area (SE) and there's 29 manuals within a 500 mile radius.

According to the inventory link provided in on the first page of this thread, there are 2023 w/manual transmissions, as show below

    2023 Tacoma Manuals.jpg

Now, how to get one and where it is located, not sure about that.

I just completed my month long search for a manual and learned a few things along the way that can help you narrow your search. You can’t get a DCLB in MT, you can get a ACLB MT. I needed the DC for kids so I had to settle for SB. You can’t get premium audio with a MT. Seems like the majority of manuals are grey, white, some black, some red and very few in the other colors (at least that was my experience from searching what was available for sale out there). I was not concerned with a new car because I’m avoiding anything built during the pandemic. I also found A LOT of miss-listed cars, dealerships listing a manual and it actually being an auto on the lot. There is a bazillion tacomas out there some even listing options that don’t even exist. So, narrowing my search to exactly what I wanted, knowing what options actually realistic helped me find the Tacoma I was looking for. I was able to narrow my search. Found a Calvary 18 pro dcsb mt with oem audio plus installed. I didn’t need the pro but I needed the dc mt and good audio. Don’t be worried too much about the price or miles if it’s a fair deal, you’ll always get plenty of value out of your Tacoma and get good money back if you sell because the Tacoma has the highest resale of any pedestrian vehicle ever.
