How to get the cigarette Smell out

Gee, ShaLor, I sure hope this works! When I test drove my "new" 07 taco, Belle, she looked and smelled clean and performed like a NEW truck. Because I added accessories that had to be ordered and installed I picked her up one week later. For some ASSinine reason, the dealer sent the ALREADY clean Belle to Detail. So, when I arrived to pick her up and opened the door a stale, offensive odor slapped me in the face. I thought I MUST be coincidentally smelling some surrounding odor, ignored it and drove home to pick up some family for a test drive. By the time we were all in the truck and drove about 15 minutes we ALL felt sick with one enduring a severe headache. While we were willing to wait out a day or two of fading odor, it is NOT fading and we get sick within a few minutes. Since none of us is a smoker I am not sure it is stale cig smoke. It smells more to me like dirty, moldy carpet filter dust you find at car wash vacuums. I've already emailed the dealer about this problem and plan to take Belle to MY Detailer to see if he can clean whatever the HELL the dealer "detailed" INTO my near excellent taco. However, if your vinegar idea works, maybe I should try it, first. What do you think? Has anyone else experienced a situation where a CLEAN vehicle came back from a professional detailing job so much worse it made occupants ill?

Make sure you check the in cabin air filter behind the glove box. Just guessing here, but maybe something got spilled on the cabin air intake area and now your filter is gunked up?

Psh. Leave the windows and slider open for as long as possible, vacuum the interior (seats+carpet) and drive around. The smell will be gone in a day or two..

OZIUM...they sell it at wal-mart as well as car washes/auto parts shops...works wonders for all sorts of smoke & odors

the Resolve brand pet odor one for some reason works well.
