Ever since I got new tires and rims, this light has been on my dash. And I can't get it off, any help out there on how to get it off. Without taking it to a dealership?

When you got new rims they probably didn't put in the tpms sensors so go back to where you got the rims and tell them they forgot to put them in

as the member above noted, your tpms sensors are either missing, improperly installed, improperly calibrated, or damaged. all likely options depending on the tire shop.

Get the issure corrected, as tpms provide more good then harm, its a nice warning to have.

I just thought of a question ... is it a solid light or is it flashing? If it is solid, they may have set it up correctly and you just have a low tire?

Just a thought before you start spending any more money.

Maybe you have a faulty reset switch. Just guessin. You have to hold that button in for about 10 seconds.

if you take it to a reputable shop they will be able to use a tool (Tech 400) to scan the sensors, and "re-learn" the TPMS system. They will then use the reset switch if needed. Don't forget that your truck most likely has a sensor in the spare, and if the spare has a sensor it also needs to have the correct amount of air in it. Also, they could have just set your air pressure too high or low. Hope that helps ya some.

Slide a piece of black tape under the printed gauge face, over the light. It's simple to remove the whole instrument cluster....It'll look absolutely stock and unmolested. It's also reversible.

This is just bad advice. I hope you didn't do that to buyers of your previous vehicles with "check Engine lights" on.

Haha. It's really not hard to adjust the pressure that the tpms system wants for the light to stay off, and it's the right way to do it. I agree, the tape just seems sketch to me :notsure:

Also check your air in the spare tire. Got me last time. I could not figure why it would not go off.

"Check engine" might really mean an engine problem.."Low tire pressure" on a machine that has had the monitors removed is only annoying. This is the case with my truck and after two years and three bad sensors replaced at $160 each wheel. It was just a wait for the fourth battery to eat the cheese and then start the cycle all over again. It was : Tires $600..TPMS each replaced every time you buy tires: another $400-$600. My truck is not new. It does not have standard size rims and tires. There are no longer any monitors installed. This was my call. It was annoying. It was expensive. It is UN neccesary..... It may not be for everyone. I agree. (The post was asking how to get the light to turn off. Not how to restore the TPMS feature.)

It sounds like when the OP got new wheels they didn't transfer the TPMS sensors to the new ones from the old.

Pushing the reset button will not do anything, The only way to get rid of it is to have them put onto the new wheels assuming they both require the same amount of tire pressure.

No, the light is solid which means that the sensors are reading, but one or all tires have the incorrect pressure. Tire pressure needs to be set to desired pressure, and the system needs to be reset... If the light is flashing that means the computer is having an issue reading the sensors or they are not there.
