It was in the truck when I got it, no idea how long it's been in there but it's had enough time to basically seal itself in the receiver. First I tried removing the pin and pulling it out by hand, wouldn't budge. Today I took a chain and hooked it to a tree and tried to tug it out and it STILL wouldn't come out! Not one little budge, the pin still slides back in no problem. How do I get this ugly F-ing thing off? I hate it and want it gone before I bust my shin on the damn thing. Any ideas? Thought about soaking it with PB blaster, but don't know if that will help or not.

if its really fused in there you'll need LOTS of heat. first i would try pounding it out at alternating angles to wiggle it out so to speak with some force

I was going to say hook a strap to a tree and give er hell but you did that, So I would spray with pb blast over a few days and try again. And try heat too I forgot that.

Try hitting the receiver from where you can with a small sledge too, that may help a little. Or hook back up to that tree and give her more hell, that'll definitely do it!:burnrubber:

Use a 50/50 mix of acetone and atf. It works better than pb blaster. I wouldnt try a chain to pull that out again, who knows where the chain will fly or the hitch.

^This guy speaks the truth! ATF and Acetone, even Xylene works wonders! Had I paid attention and noticed you were using a chain I'd've said don't do that no more!

Wintergreen oil works well as a penetrating oil. PB Blaster works well to disolve rust and loosen parts too, and of course heat, heat and more heat. Just don't melt your bed or bumper. You might want to take the reciever of the truck first. If it's rusted together really badly, you might just want to ditch it and get a whole new rig.

One more word of advice. Once you get the hitch out, if you plan to put another hitch back in, coat it and the inside of the reciever in plastidip to keep them from rusting together in the future.

I currently have mine wrapped in a thin layer of rubber tape to keep it from banging but I plan to dip it soon.

I don't want to do that again for fear of damaging something. Gonna tweak around with it tomorrow and see what happens, just soaked it with blaster so hopefully it loosens up.

The solvents mentioned and time should work, combined with BFH.

I was able to free up a seized semi trailer sliding tandem axle once by using shitload of WD40, a sledge, and time. Then a little back and forth with the yard tractor.

Let those chemicals work for you while you drink a beer.

I did the blaster before I came back in and read your response, if it doesn't work I will try the ATF 50/50.

Think I am just going to take the whole receiver off and start over. I still can't get this bitching thing out and there is quite a bit of rust on the receiver itself that scares me from ever wanting to tow something with it. Out with the old, in with the new! Will go see if I can get a deal on a new receiver somewhere on Friday.

As noted above, if you drop the spare can you get at it from under the bed with a drift and BFH? Shock from the hammer may jog it loose. The contant force from the tug on the tree may not have enough shock to break it loose.

X2 on the ATF and acetone soak...

Yeah, I want to try that before I decide just to yank the whole receiver out. Just haven't found the motivation to do it yet because the driveway is all wet and slushy. Man I'd kill for an auto lift right about now.. Something small y'know like a squirrel, or a rabbit.

Liquid wrench all the seams. Let it soak in real good. Chisel as much cancer off as you can where its fused, and whomp it inward, then out.
