If you have an OR or Pro put it in 4Lo and engage A-Trac. Like other's have said, go out and practice, just don't ride the clutch.

Time to talk with your insurance company .
Speak loudly and push them ....get other members from BC to join in your pursuit .
If Ontario gives you a discount , I cant see why BC would have a problem ?
You guys see a similar amount of snow if not more than Ontario .
Its not a huge discount .....Maybe save $150 a year on a regular policy over a year .
I run studs in Ontario . If studs are allowed in B.C. , I highly suggest running them as a winter set .
Makes a huge difference in winter traction .
I will add that snow tires without studs last 5 years on average . Adding studs to winter rubber allows for an additional 40K .

    I second this option.

No snow where I am now, but 24 years experience in Western Canada, lol.

    All good advice here.

The one other thing is that if you are spinning at idle in 1st, use your clutch to rock you and modulate the throttle with the clutch out to stop spinning / get traction.

If you are in deep and not going anywhere, try to stop spinning as soon as possible as you will just go deeper. Reverse course for a run / momentum is gonna be a better path forward, unless you are on a grade.

Winter tires help a lot. If predominantly dealing with snow studs don't add anything. However, if you have a lot of ice (such as costal areas) studs help quite a bit.

While I would not do this all the time, up to about 3 seconds of ridding the clutch does not cause much harm. If you need more than 3 seconds it is time to employ things like 4H, 4L, A-TRAC, chains, Etc.

On clear water ice with a decent grade, chains are about the only answer. If pushing through deep, heavy snow, once again chains are the answer.

The manual says no chains on the front tires, which sucks.

If you really want them, get some spacers to clear the knuckles and get the chains on tight to not hit the UCA ball joint bolt. That was going to be my approach and to only run the spacers temporarily, but ATs have done all that I have needed for our area. All the deep snow places get blocked for snowmobiles to play.

I don’t do anything particularly special with the clutch when driving in low traction situations. Don’t slip the clutch too much in any situation. It wears it out. If wheel spin is unavoidable, let the clutch out all the way and apply light throttle. Let the tires spin instead of the clutch.
